Stat Weighting Presets: Post the latest updates here
Return to board index
Post by
Malgayne
So the
weight scale
presets on the site have a tendency to get out of date very quickly. We want to avoid this, but we don't have enough people to do the theorycrafting ourselves—even trying to find and validate the theorycraft that other people have done is extremely difficult and time consuming—especially if you don't play the class in question.
So with that in mind, I'm posting a thread like this in every class forum. What I need is for you guys to let us know what the latest theorycraft is for your class and spec—whether it's Pawn values, an EJ post, something from ShadowPanther, Rawr, or whatever it may be. With this information, we'll be able to keep the weight scales up to date more easily, and make sure we always have the latest info.
What we need:
The actual weight values for each statistic
A link to the source information for the theorycraft
About when the theorycraft was done (to make sure it's recent)
Don't forget that no possible set of weight values will be right for EVERY character. Remember that the weight values should be calculated for a character who is
not capped
on any stat. We're looking primarily for weight scale results for fresh players of the max level here.
If the weight scales have gone too long without being updated, just put up a post in
Site Feedback
directing our attention to the relevant post in this thread.
Please Note:
Any post in this thread which is NOT a weight scale post will be deleted. Gotta keep this clean.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Gnub##DELIM##

Given that the EP values vary with gear, it would be better to post up the >ROUGH APPROXIMATION< of general EP values found in the pocket guide on EJ.

Until the people that matter at wowhead come to the conclusion that EJ data is legit and useable, there's nothing you can do.
Having same EP values for all 3 talent trees is just stupid. The talent trees aren't the same. Gear you use isn't the same for all three specs.
Oh, and hi goshad!

Well the stam weights are there for tanks. For DPSers they should just be set to zero.
See, on EJ people produce a spreadsheet to model DPS for a certain spec for a certain class.
Rawr is a program that is created for a similar cause. It provides a somewhat accurate model for ferals, but it can't model rogue DPS.
This is partially because some classes' DPS relies
heavily
on whether they are hit/expertise capped. When Mutilate rogue may consider expertise dodge cap worth going for in order to stabilize his rotation/cycle, a Combat rogue won't give a rat's ass about expertise and will be right in doing so. Simply due to the fact that he will gain more from gemming/enchanting for other stats.
What Wowhead provides is an universal tool. It may be not very reliable when going into very deep details concerning a certain spec of a certain class (e.g. HaT rogue). But on the other hand, it can be used as a rough guideline by all players, whether they are levelling, raiding or playing competetive PvP. It caters even to RP'ers by providing a "view 3d" utility :)

spirit probably wouldnt up my dps so much.
Neither would spellpower. But they wouldn't negatively affect it, which is the point goshad is making.

why is armor pen considered so useless for mutilate? never understood this really; is it perhaps because our main damage comes from poisons?
More than half of your damage comes from poisons as mutilate specced, but this thread is supposed to be about other things.
