The game isn't made for a console controller (which is one of the main reasons they never made a WoW for the consoles)
I tried switchblade for it cause i was a huge console gamer before WoW... it just doesn't feel right though.
You have to get used to the keyboard/mouse... its not so bad.

I remember seeing a video of someone playing rogue on a Wii-controller. Was funny as hell, but quite impressive as well.

I had a friend a few years ago who played with a controller on his Mac. I never understood why he did that but he said he loved using the controller over the keyboard.

I've tried using my joystick to play, but WoW won't accept the inputs as keybindings. I've always assumed that any input device that's not a keyboard or mouse wouldn't work with WoW. However, if it does work, I may have to pick up one of those USB Xbox controllers.

Look up Switchblade, it's a program that lets you configure a Xbox 360 controller to play WoW with

I had a fully raid-worthy Hunter that I controlled with a controller, it's quite a different experience.
How did you tackle binding looting to a key? It took forever before I figured out how to loot. Eventually I set up the cursor to be just above my toons head and bound right click to one of the buttons.
I did everything else with the controller though. Camera with one Joystick, second joystick I used as modifiers. I made them emulate shift, alt and ctrl, this would later transfer to my right hand buttons controlling four different macros with four different modifiers a piece. I had to use an addon called SuperMacro (I think?) to fit the whole macro on one button. Directional buttons were bound to keyboard movement and left and right shoulder was strafe. Start and select were left and right click. When I was in town I used the mode button on my controller to switch to a completely different set of controls to talk to vendors and trainers and move the mouse and such.
I had to do alot of messing around with WoW's keybindings, the controller profiles for it's keybindings and a program I used to emulate mouse movement. Not to mention writing the frigging macros.
In all honesty it probably wasn't worth the trouble :S But for anyone wanting to learn some of the Blizzard API or just likes to mess around with things like that, it's a good learning experience.

It would definitely be fun for using it with your flying mount. As for leveling, that would be pretty hard.

Classes just have waaaaayyyyyyy too many skills for a controller to be viable... Even as a Destro warlock, where I only use 5 moves during boss fights, have over 30 keys bound to non-movement related controls.
I REALLY don't see any kind of efficient gameplay with such a limited form of control...

You can, but not if you want to be effective at anything you do.
