Overview
:
After the Nexus War was over, the Wyrmrest Accord found itself in a very delicate position. The Blue Dragonflight was almost completely obliterated, and even its surviving members were not willing to join the Accord and fight for the preservation of the mortal races. The Black Dragonflight, despite its relative friendliness, could not be trusted - not after the discovery of the Obsidian Sanctum and Deathwing's whereabouts. Alexstrasza had only her Reds, Ysera's Greens, and the Bronze drakes, who were still confused by Nozdormu's disappearance.
At was at this time that the Life-Binder decided to break a tradition tens of thousands years old - she and her allies sent ambassadors to all of the mortal races and allied themselves with them, entering the mortal affairs directly. For eons have the Dragonflights kept their neutrality, but now some of their members were enlisted in either the Horde or the Alliance, fighting side by side with the heroes who have saved Azeroth time and again. These ambassadors became a new type of dragons - beings known as the Drake-born.
The Drake-born are dragons deprived from most of their abilities - they are locked in a mortal body of their choice until the time of their death; their powerful draconic magic has been stripped off them, but a replacement have been found, to compensate their loss - partially, at least. Each Drake-born, regardless of the Dragonflight he or she had belonged before his transformation, has been granted limited powers from all Dragonflights that have created Drake-borns - Red, Green, and Bronze. They all have some control over fire, sleep and mind, and time itself. Unfortunately very few of their newly-found abilities were suited for ranged combat, or for direct attacks over the enemy. The majority of a Drake-born's powers served to enchance his or her own body, improving aspects already existing, or granting it new abilities.
Talents
:
Ruby
The Ruby tree is dedicated to Alexstrasza and the Red Dragonflight. It consists of fire-based techniques, the majority of which give the Drake-born fire damage, and enhance it further. Mediocre self-healing is also available. This is the only tree that allows the Drake-born to attack enemies from distance. It is also capable of high burst damage, which makes it suitable for PvP.
Emerald
The Emerald tree is dedicated to Ysera and the Green Dragonflight. It is a complex tree, consisting of various and often situational abilities - magical debuffs, curses, reflective damage spells, crowd-control, and some minor defensive capabilities. All of the abilities here require a target in melee range, except for the curses.
Bronze
The Bronze tree is dedicated to Nozdormu and the Bronze Dragonflight. It focuses on physical damage, haste- and speed-affecting abilities, and close-ranged AoE spells.
Spell System
: Mana & Essences
Mana
The vast majority of a Drake-born's spells require mana. The mana regenration is affected mostly by Spirit, and partially by Intellect.
Essences
Drake-borns have three Essences, which work similarly to a Warrior's Stances, or a Death Knight's Presences. Each Essences increases or decreases certain stats and allows/prohibits certain spells from being cast. All three Essences - Essence of the Red, Essence of the Green, and Essence of the Bronze - cost 16% of the Drake-born's total mana, and drain the remaining mana down to 0 after the 3-second cast. Switching Essences is only possible out of combat.
Essences
: Red, Green, Bronze
Essence of the Red
Increases the damage and critical strike chance of Fire spells by 5%, and increases healing done to the caster by 5%. While under the effect of this Essence, 25% of all Physical damage is converted into Fire.
Essence of the Green
Increases mana by 15%, and the duration of all debuffs on the enemy targets by 50%. Replenishes 15% of the caster's Intellect as mana ever 5 seconds. While under the effect of this Essence, all attacks made against the caster have a chance to apply Curse of the Nightmare on the attacker.
Essence of the Bronze
Increases haste rating by 5%, movement speed by 10%, dodge by 10%, and increases Strength by 6%. While under the effect of this Essence, all damage done is considered Physical.

This seems as though it has been well thought out, placed in with some sensible lore.
I can't wait to see the spells and abilities, though I would like to know if you are going to brief us on them then number crunch or visa versa.

Btw i think ea Dragon when it pick its race its personality
will addapt to it .
Also if this is a hero class (wich is i suppose)The first quest will be
you as a Dragon and fly over to a dieng Hero and at the moment he dies
you snatch his body, but some part of its spirit is bound to the body and gain some personality changes.
For example the dragon will enter an orc body and as such will
develop a hatred towards the Alliance etc...

Okay, I should have clarified a few things...
@
Pallydwarf
, by nature the Drake-borns are not a utility class. Emerald and Bronze trees will have a decent number of debuffs, which should put them on par with Warriors and Rogues, as far as utility goes. I might toss in some Improved Essences, which will allow the Essences to act like auras.
@
Delterius
, to be honest, I don't like that part of the Lore explanation either. I thought about making the Drake-borns renegades, or outcasts, or something like that - dragons that don't serve the Dragonflights, and so are perfectly fine with engaging in the conflict. But it was just
meh
...

, sorry, I didn't make myself clear. The Drake-borns don't go and possess an already existing body. The shapeshift, normally, into a mortal form of their choice (hence the "All" racial availability), then they have their powers sucked away from them, which forces them to stay in this form forever.

, the thing is, I had two sets of possible roles for the three talent trees. They could either all be DPS (like they are now), or they could be Red Tank, Green Healer, Bronze DPS (like they are in the Occulus). This being said, I like the latter idea better, so I figure I should develop the three DPS version first, lest I lose my inspiration after I am done with the versatile class design.
I am working slowly on the talents right now. I plan on having something like ~10 core spells, 4-5 passive talents from each tree, and 2-3 spell/cooldown talents from each tree. I may develop them further, and create full talent trees, but as I said, I'd rather work on the Drake-born version where they can be Red Tanks, Green Healers, or Bronze DPS.

Reds could also be healers because their domain is life. Just putting that idea out there. WoW needs a new healing class mostly, and Priests are so far the only class with two healing trees.

I like this idea, looks like you put a lot of thought into it. :D
Blizzard said the next Hero class (if any) would likely be a healer or hybrid thereof, so if it weren't for the likelihood they already have something in mind with all their secrecy, I could see them using a design like the one you have in mind.
and it never hurts to have a fallback. ;P

I think I've seen this before in WoW RP forums and my answer is still no. We really don't need dragons. And we don't need any more race/class ideas in this forum IMFHO.

did you read it?
also, where else would they go?

But , if Drake Born lose their powers forcing them into their mortal
form. It also means they will start acting like the race the formed in.
If that would not happen Drake Born cannot PvP and can party with both alliance and horde(watever race).
I realy like the idean and about Drake-Born. :P
I realy looking forward for the skills

Yes, of course I read it. It's a nicely formulated idea I'll give him/her that, seems to be somewhat thought out. But it still goes against everything in the current lore. I'd bet my sweet ass that even Metzen wouldn't come up with this, and to be honest, I'm happy he doesn't. This goes in my mind to the locker of all Pandaria threads - stuff that was funny until people took it seriously.
As for the class/race suggestions, I honestly hope they would be shoved somewhere where the sun doesn't shine. Like WoW off-topic forums or something. I was pretty amazed and giddy when I first saw the lore & roleplaying forum here, but that now half of the forum is people not discussing roleplaying nor lore, but shoving out their ideas for new races or classes to the game, any excitement and hopes I had for this forum faded away.
Where else would they go? Anywhere but here tbh. If I had any say on what goes on around here, I wouldn't let these kinds of topics live very long. I suppose some people are lucky I have no authority here.

How so? I'd love to hear the reasoning for it actually.

A discussion that should be done elsewhere, but I somehow agree to an extend. There has indeed been loads of class-suggestions that doesn't fit into Warcraft in any possible way and/or contains little to no lore. As seen above, this doesn't quite a apply to this case though.
