This is one of the fastest guns in the game. The speed is only matched by Precisely Calibrated Boomstick.

This, along with a large collection of other weapons, all listed as "Dalaran <Weapon class>" are available from various weapon vendors around the city, specifically for the purpose of leveling your weapon skills in as timely a fashion as available.

I suggest you level your weapon skills on the mob Rothin the Decaying, for as long as that is possible. He is an immune (permanently shielded) quest mob in the back of the Obsidian Dragonshrine in Dragonblight. Happy hunting!

It took me 429 bullets to go from 350 to 400, so 3 stacks of ammo should cover it for those frugally minded marksmen!

Using this gun I leveled my skill from 1 to 398 in 10 minutes. It took me about 850 bullets. Here's what I did as a SV Hunter:

Equip gun and cheapest ammo you want, I used the cheap option from the vendor in the same shop as where I bought the gun.
Turn off all pet's special abilities except Growl (threat gen) and Lick your wounds (self-heal).
Turn on aspect of the viper.
Choose any mobs you want, ideally with lots of HP and lower damage. I picked mobs around lvl 74-76.
Start killing, use auto shot + steady shot(which counts as a hit and shoots alongside your autoshot). Use rapid fire whenever available.

This should allow your pet to keep agro, I only needed to kill about 18 mobs with this method and reached 398 skill in 10 min. The last 2 skill points seem to take several hits to level, but you will lvl that up in no time playing normally and won't lose much because of lacking skill level.

With Cataclysm, these weapons may not seem useful anymore because of the loss of weapon skill levels, however, I found a nice use for this gun.

Critter Kill Squad

If you go to the Deeprun Tram and stand in one of the corners, you can use a macro something like this

/Target Deeprun Rat
/Cast auto attack

to kill a good amount of rats in a timely manner. This gun comes in handy being one of the fastest guns in the game, and only costing about 10g. Basically you can kill a rat every 1.5 seconds. You'll get your armadillo in no time :)
