Balancing Real Life and WoW

Hello, my main's name is Hurriquake. I played WoW for 2 years. I began back when Burning Crusade dropped, February of '08 I think. Maybe '07. I quit in September this year. I quit because I found it hard to balance my life with WoW.
I am a junior in high school, socially active, and taking advanced classes with lots of outside commitments, such as volunteering and a part-time job.
When I quit WoW I felt good about myself, but now I want to play again.
My question is it possible for me to create a balance with my life and the time-commitment WoW requires? How do other people manage it?

I don't really get these threads: Set a limit for yourself on how often/long you play WoW even if you have to activate the parental controls to do so. If you have something important in real life to be doing; IE school work, clubs, a job, do that and don't think about Warcraft till you have the free time again.

Youre only in high school, you should easily be able to balance the game and life. I can balance it just fine and I have a full time job, a family, bills, etc...just gotta figure out the right way to do it

I've never had trouble balancing life and WoW. Just do what you see as the most important.

OP - have you quit for very short periods and then re-upped again? Are you not completing
necessary things in RL that should be done?
If questions like these are answered yes, do not return- the addiction is running too high. Delete
all your damn characters, or you will return.
Do not listen to all the fanbois who say "of course you can", because it may not be the right answer for you.

Wow is the only game I play other than a random wii bowling session. that being said, I rarely watch tv too. I think it's easier to balance less stuff. I have family, work, education, fitness, hobbies. Wow is a hobbie and I don't let it bleed into the other four things.

It's harder than it was in Wrath. The guy who designed Cataclysm trash must have had a head cold when they told him the design philosophy, because he misheard 'difficult' as 'copy and paste a lot,' but it's still entirely possible. As others have said, set time limits. I would also recommend on anything that isn't schedule-sensitive (e.g. raiding) you make lists of things you HAVE to do on a day before you play WoW.

I quit once because I was playing more than 8hrs a day and was struggling to control it. I came back a few months later because I missed WoW, but I resolved to keep it balanced. And I succeeded.

Play casually, do parental controls if needed.

Get a GF/BF that doesn't play it - basicly trade one addiction for another. Most people have some form of addiction (or hobby they can't get over). Some people have addictive personalities. Only way to over come it that i can see is to trade one addiction for another. Try to get a healthy addiction, WoW isn't a bad one if it doesn't get rapidly out of hand, otherwise move to a more healthy one, like working out in a gym or hanging out with someone you love.
I have found for myself, getting a relationship totally blew WoW out of my life, I basicly only play it to socialize when I am bored now or to help my old friends on it. Try that for yourself, some things "click" and can destroy an addiction.
