Hey,
I have used AMrR in the past to provide
advice
on what I should do with my toons
but I don't blindly follow it explicitly
. Exactly the same goes for
Icy-Veins
or
Noxxic
.
All of these sites provide useful information for getting the best out of your class. However, this is generic information using mathmatical tables and simulations. It can never take in to account that we all play our characters differently and react to situations in a human like manner!
In terms of what you have just said... I've heard this happen to several people over and over. AMrR is doing nothing wrong. It's following strict mathematical weighted values to provide the best "sum" depending on your gear. If you so much as change a single item with different secondary stats it will have to recalulate your entire gear to get the weights to line up again (hit and expertise are big ones).

I had used MaxDps for most of my gearing questions, but found it frustrating that it only ever showed me optimal items for max gear for the most part. Being a casual raider, LFR mostly, i don't get top end gear. With Mr. Robot it shows me the best stuff at the level of playing I actually use. I like that it shows me my current score and what I can do to improve it. And with how tricky reforging can be to hit optimal numbers, mr robot has made it so much easier. Now if you are complaining that it is making you reforge every week, thats just because you keep getting new gear and its optimizing it for you based on the new gear, its not like it suddenly says oh hey, you should have this stat instead of that. I picked up 5 pieces of new gear this week, so that meant a lot of reforging for me this week, but I quickly saw my character improve dramatically without me having to try to fiddle around and do it myself with my poor mental math skills.
I was amazed when it showed me that my best trinket was a ghost iron dragonling with specific mods, being an engineer this makes me ecstatic, even though its a 450 item, its better than the top end trinket from TeS Heroic. MaxDps didn't even have the dragonling listed as even suggestion for gearing, i just assumed that a higher level trinket must be better.

Hey, I'm from Ask Mr. Robot. It seems your question has been answered pretty well, but I wanted to add one thing.
Next time you see Mr. Robot moving all sorts of stuff around do this:
1. Look at the stats gained and lost on the right hand side. Also, look at the scorebar above your gear - you will see how much of a point difference you get from your gear to the optimized setup. It's very likely things have barely changed, but Mr. Robot found a better way to get you to caps, etc.
2. Lock in the reforges/gems/enchants that you don't want to change. Mr. Robot will optimize around those. Then make sure you can still reach the caps / breakpoints you want to reach. If so, no need to change stuff around.
Hope that helps :)

If I raid on Friday, that's the day I'll do my major reforging and regemming. It's not necessary to be perfect optimal every single time you get a minor upgrade or sidegrade. Especially if you're just running heroics for quick valor, where expertise and hit caps are lower anyway.
