Strictly speaking, what advantages does using a dagger/fast off-hand have over a slow off-hand for a combat rogue, and vice-versa? With the changes to deadly poison and combat potency, as well as the buff to killing spree, would dual-wielding slow weapons yield more dps than the slow main-hand/off-hand dagger combo favored in cata? It seems to me that in this current stage of the game dual-wielding slow weapons is the way to go, or am I missing some key part of the equation that would push daggers ahead?

It is my understanding dual heavy/slow is better for combat. I am using a fist weapon in MH and an axe in OH - still looking for a 2nd axe so i can dual wield my tansmog frost giant cleavers.

Slow, heavy weapons is only slightly better due the Killing Spree mechanics.
I mainly prefer them for transmog purpses, though. There' sonly one dagger, that sheath to the back, but quite alot of swords do.

When you have a fast OH, DP procs more often. When you have a slow OH, the less DP procs is made up by the mechanic of
Fatal Flourish
which equates to roughly the same dps when comparing slow OH to fast OH. AnrDaemon is correct in the fact that due to KS's mechanic, it would be more beneficial using a slow OH over fast OH, especially when you're able to cleave with Blade Flurry.
The only agility axe weapons right now is
Crescent of Ichor
and the PVP conquest points ones. The only agility sword weapons right now is
Krol Scimitar
,
The Horseman's Sinister Slicer
,
Siege-Captain's Scimitar
and the the PVP conquest points ones.
The only agility mace weapons right now is
Gao's Keg Tapper
and the the PVP conquest points ones.
So you are VERY limited as to what you can use in PVE, but so many choices in PVP as combat. In PVE, the only slow weapons you can use drops from
Gara'jal the Spiritbinder
and
Grand Empress Shek'zeer
. Daggers drop from
Amethyst Guardian
and
Lei Shi
.

As a combat rogue myself in raiding the heavier (slower if you call it) weapon it procs off
Fatal Flourish
alot more.
Also you guys are forgetting Fist Weapons
Im currently packing
Claws of Shek'zeer
and
Gara'kal, Fist of the Spiritbinder
both enchanted with
Enchant Weapon - Windsong
Combat rogues are for longevity with consistent dps as they really dont need to do anything funky to keep said dps up.
Mixed with
Blade Flurry
and
Killing Spree
depending on your situation you will be nailing everything.
You can think combat as survival and consistency.
