This is a known issue that's being investigated. It does not appear to be browser-based but rather an issue with specific ISPs. Please bear with us while we look into it.

Sorry about the thread necromancy but I've encountered this exact issue. Or rather, a friend of mine has.
Apparently it's ISP related somehow. I really can't see what would cause it but she can't acceess the full site at the moment while trying any browser on her computer, on her ipad or on her iphone. It works on my iphone however and on both our work computers.
I asked another friend to check the site on his phone as well (he's using the same carrier as she does) and he encountered the same issue. The index page doesn't load completely, the ads in the background are gone as well as all the links under the search box.
So far the ISP's that seem to cause this in Sweden that I know about are
Bredbandsbolaget
(tested on their DSL) and the mobile broadband from
Tre
.
It started working as soon as she switched from 3G to Wifi on her phone when she was connected to a router that was using another ISP (
Com Hem
) so it's not tied to the phone itself, that's for sure.
Really strange but I figured it might help someone pinpoint the issue.
I don't have any screenshots at the moment but it looks just like the screenshot in the first post when it won't work.
I can replucate it(for me atleast) :
Open firefox&wowhead --> wowhead working.
Open new tab&Youtube --> wowhead stops working.
When it stops working for me it also stops working with Opera,Chrome and IE btw.
Edit : clear cache did not work, restart pc did not work, disable addons did not work, downgrading firefox did not work either(think i only got the bug after updating though).Waiting 2 hours and 50 minutes did the trick for me ;-)
P.s part before edit i posted during the bug so posting still works eventhough you cannot see what i've posted.
To consolidate posts on this topic I'm reposting these contributions here as quotes so I can lock an unrelated, older thread.

Seeing the same issue. With Grande, home internet I can't read the articles or see any of the option buttons on the front screen, When I turn the wifi off on my phone and go through ATT's 3g, I can see everything. Currently posting logged into my work comp which can see the whole site...

When the problems manifest itself for me, it does it, on ATLEAST 3 different ISPs at the same time, on totally different platforms, OSes and browsers..
The problem also disappear on all ISPs, devices and OSes at the same time.

I shouldn't really have been that specific since I was just guessing based on what had come in at that point. It's not an issue with certain browsers (is the important bit) but it is something that is affecting a small slice of the userbase while not affecting others at all.
I'm told that the dev that's investigating has a pretty good idea of what's going on so hopefully we won't need people to bear with us for long.

I have the same issue. Could this be load related? It works at times and at times not. I'm using Firefox latest version. It's really annoying and it's been like this for a couple of days now.
I have a friend with the same issue as I'm experiencing, he thought that he was the only one with the issue, but it seems quite alot of people are having this issue.
The lack of reports on the issue might be due to people not being able to get to the site and get to the forums to post about it.

I was having the same problem.
Changing my DNS servers to Googles fixed it.
Guide here:

If you know someone having problems link them that.

The devs applied a fix that they hope will help people affected by this issue.
If you are still encountering issues, please fully clear your cache (shift+f5, ctrl+f5 (windows) alt+cmd+e (mac/safari)) and post here if that doesn't clear things up.

My friend's running iOS 6.0.1 and can't access the site over 3G (or her own wifi) but it worked when she hooked it up to my router on another ISP. As soon as she switched to wifi it started working and when we turned it back off the issue came back. Cache cleared and so on, no effect.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Browser is Mozilla Firefox latest version
Feels very random when the site is working though. It's on the same computer that sometimes it works perfectly. Like now for instance, but when I tried to use WoWhead this morning it didn't work.
I'm in GMT+2h Timezone

I've spoken with the devs and they've provided both a temporary solution for affected users. They also have a simple process in which users can provide them with some additional specifics which will greatly help them out.
Temporary solution: This will allow you to browse Wowhead normally.
1. Open up Notepad as an Administrator
2. Open %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
3. Add and save the following lines to the host file:
50.22.23.4 wowjs.zamimg.com
50.22.23.4 wowcss.zamimg.com
This will work temporarily--but the information will be changing in two months as we migrate servers, so please remove those lines before then.
If you'd like to provide us with more details on the IP address of the Akamai edge server, and use Vista or Win 7, please do the following:
1. Go to Start menu and enter in "cmd" in the 'Search programs and files' input box.
2. Run 'nslookup wowjs.zamimg.com' and 'nslookup wowcss.zaming.com'
3. Please report what the text is after "Name:"(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##perculia##DELIM##

Having this issue still. I've tried the Google DNS fix, haven't tried the systemroot solution. Unlike what I've read, Wowhead doesn't load in Chrome but does in Firefox for me. I'm using Windows 7. Let me know if any other info can be helpful.

Seems like you've solved this issue. Mine's been working those times I've needed to check this website. Good work.

Kanktank--if it's working on some browsers, this is a separate issue from the users who were not able to load the site at all. I'll see if can help you out.
Glad everything is working once again for everyone else! Really sorry for the inconvenience, thanks for your patience :)
