TMorph Ban Wave?

Yeah i saw on the forums that apparently a massive ban wave went out for people using tmorph and that there was a thread about it that exploded with people defending this mod..
I can't find any trace of said thread or any "ban wave" for tMorph users..
So was some guy just trying to stir another rumour? or was there actualy a ban wave for tMorph users?
I personaly doubt there was.. because popular streamers like Reckful have been using tmorph and other programs like it to mod their characters for years and they haven't been banned.

Blizzard recently started cracking down on it because it changes core game files on the local client. As they can't see which files are changed, just that some have been, they are taking action against these players.
Tmorph is different from a regular addon in the fact it changes these files totally similar to the mods for other games. Things like auctioneer, bagnon, dominos, etc just allow these files to show options that are currently built into the game.

Ahaa.. i thought it was just purely cosmetic changes that only you can see..
How do they even detect it?(##RESPBREAK##)12##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

at a wild guess, i'm thinking that the warden security system would check the checksums of the files, then report back to HQ for further attention. well that's how i'd do it

It's just the same type of modelchange that people have been banned for ever since the release of the game.Ahaa.. i thought it was just purely cosmetic changes that only you can see..It basically is. It doesn't change how others see you. However, it may change how you see others, it may let you make walls invisible etc. That's why modelchanging is not allowed at all.
Any "addon" that isn't just a folder in the game's Interface\Addons folder, or more specifically, that uses its own .exe to modify WoW, is not an addon, but technically a hack of the game.

I see.. i remember a similar program called Evermorph where the feature to remove walls or change the looks of other players was removed due to the fact it was being used as an exploit.. so i figured it was like that and you couldnt be banned for it, or well you could. but blizzard wouldnt exactly be investigating it.

Ok seen as this guy
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/tichondrius/Anticide/simple
has been streaming for ages while using TMorph and he hasnt been banned.. i doubt you can be banned for this.

Well berronaxwins, you go right ahead and use it and when the banhammah gets dropped on your head, you have no one to blame but yourself. Numerous people have told you that its a ban-able offense and you refuse to listen.
Maybe if we can get Araxom in here, he can tell you Blizzards stance on the whole thing.
And if you still don't listen,
I hope you get a permaban.

I may not have the fancy blue or green text on this forum, but as I do have it on the official Blizzard forum, I very least can acknowledge that it is against the Terms of Use as it modifies the client's memory.
Berronaxwins
, if you choose to use it, then use it at your own risk. I would advise you to stay away from it.

From what I can tell, blizzard tends to ban people using specific types of bot programs or hacks in waves, after they gather enough information about the program to know what they're dealing with, and maybe break the function on their end. I imagine that while people might not be banned immediately, if this hack is now so widespread that people discuss it on the official forums, that the ban isn't too far off. Not only do I think you could be banned- I think it's really only a matter of time before it does happen.

Oh i'm not gonna use it, however we will see if Reckful gets banned for it.. i personaly dont think blizz will bother.
but we will see

thing is tho just because its against the tou doesn't mean you will be banned for it..
insulting other players is against the rules, yet i regulary do it and have had no action taken against me..
then again they deserve it tbh.. ninja looters >.>

Yes, actual because something is against TOS/EULA that does mean you CAN get banned for it. Just because it hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean that it won't.

That just means you haven't been reported for being an ass enough yet. Keep up the insults and eventually, you will get banned.

If you didn't ask to get the loot rules in writing ingame, then there is no such thing as a ninja looter. Blizzard can only give the item to the proper player if the loot rules are announced in game. This comes right from a GM when I was asking about how to prevent such a thing from happening to me again after the BiS enh offhand was ninja'ed by the crappy rogue leading the raid 4-5 years ago.
That being said, it appears you just want to argue with people about an issue that has been addressed by
Blizzard Representative
on the
official
forums. Yes, some people are breaking the legally binding contract they they have to agree to every time they scroll through the wall of text and hit accept, but that is between them and Blizzard. Don't make the assumption that because they haven't been banned
YET
, that they
WON'T
! Plus, we all know what happens when you assume something don't we?
If those people jumped off a bridge with a lit firecracker in their mouths would you as well? I thought not.

Well we will have to agree to disagree there mate.
back on topic, in my eyes if it is not harming anybody or giving you an unfair advantage, blizzard won't be putting on high priority of their "ban list" but anyway i'm not using this mod, and i never will because it would just dilute how epic some things are.
But like i said i've seen reckful using Tmorph and other programs like it in like.. every single video and stream he's done.. so if this is bannable.. he should be one of the first people to be hit by the ban hammer, so we'll see if he does.

We all know that one can (theoretically) be banned for Tmorph or similar, no need to tell us over and over.
There are lots of people using it and haven't been banned (maybe yet, maybe they never have been nor will) so it would be interesting to see whether it is kind of "tolerated" or if people actually do get banned for it.
I found only one guy in the wow forums claiming that Tmorph got him banned so far. Also there are streamers like mentioned above that use it.
So I would really like to use it, too, just don't want to risk it without knowing whether it gets you a permanent ban at all (since I have one warning for a funny guildname someone else didnt think to be funny ~.~)

By no means am I an expert on what Blizzard can/cannot see but from my understanding TMorph only temporarily modifies client-side files. It is not visible to anyone else nor does it change anything you can/can't do in the game when interacting with the environment. It's essentially just putting new visuals over your actual character/mount. Therefore, unless you tell Blizzard directly, I'm unsure as to how they'd be able to even know you were using it.
I don't personally see the point though if it's only temporarily viable to you and you have to initialize the thing every time you launch WoW. I don't use it but went and found a YouTube video discussing it.

Greetings everyone,
I'll need to be succinct here, as I won't be able to provide specific details about how or why a modification to WoW may cause a problem - I can only say that there are addons that will allow a player to reorganize information on the screen which is otherwise able to be obtained normally without such changes. This kind of User Interface modification is acceptable. Any kind of program or modification to the WoW game files which change how you see what's on your screen could potentially be a concern. Addons which change where health bars are on screen, or allow you to change how your map is displayed - these are examples of addons which are likely okay. Programs which change the textures/skins of in-game models, or which help automate your actions in game - these are examples of modifications which are not okay.
Here's one such thread about this particular issue which was moderated by Vrakthris.
