Buy the MoP Discs. Have everything from previous discs. That way you only need to download a few patches.

Maybe they should make it so if you do something like pay them 120 bucks you won't need to pay your subscription any more, or just make WoW's size lower... Seriously Blizzard... if Valve can do it, you can do it.
Seriously, No. The more content you add. the more of a file size it will be. And there is no way Blizzard is giong to offer anyone that deal. They will make more money on a monthly sub then having someone pay them $120 for a life sub.

I mean like seriously, this game is like 11 TBs.
Uh, no.
Do you know how big 11 TB are? I have WoW at 14.2 GB, and that doesn't include MoP. So its probably close to 20GB. Maybe more.

The OP does bring up an interesting point, which is that players who only have Wrath accounts still have to download all that Cat/Mists data for which they have no use. The download-and-play experience would be vastly improved if each continent was a separate data package, and you could choose which continents you wanted to download and which ones you didn't, and the order in which to download them.

I'm sure anyone with internet has times where they could have it download while they did something else... i.e work, school, sleep etc.
The concept of lowering the size is somewhat amusing to me. The game has been around for many many years now, the size is only ever going to get bigger. Not much you can do about that without removing entire chunks of the game. And yes, I understand that those who don't have MoP or Wrath are annoyed that they still download that content. You have to remember though that some things added in these expansions effect everyone, even those without that content and therefore you need to have it downloaded. I suppose they could try and pick out the pieces you for sure don't need but that is just unnecessary developer time. You only really should have to endure the long download once. Make a backup of it if necessary so you don't have to do it again and from now on you'll just have the patch downloads (which can download in the background over a long period of time so you don't have to wait for it on release day).

Wrath? How can someone not have Wrath?

Think Sas meant Cata.

Well since the data from Wrath has the events of pre-Cata on it, but thats not the way Azeroth is now. The barrens is split and world has changed. All that info is in the Cata data. So yes to play even from level 1 you would need to download that data.
You would also need the data from Mists for every race that can be a monk, even if you can't you would need to see other players who are, and also to see pandarens since everyone can be a pandaren.

Also, it's better to download the complete data right away, so that players who upgrade, esp. digitally, don't have to wait for another download before they can play.

Then why do you want to play an online game?
There is an easy solution to the issue the OP raised. GO TO EB GAMES AND BUY THE DISCS.....

hasnt blizzard made the total data of the game more compact several times?
im pretty sure they have else the game would take quite a lot more space then the 20-25 (its 23 for me) gb it does atm
They have. The space the game and all its data took up was over 30gig for me at one point- I think during Cata?- but they had something happen where it copied the necessary files and erased a lot of the outdated stuff. Brought it down to just under 20gig. It's up to about 23 now. That sounds like it's more or less the average.
