F2P Heirloom-farming?

Hello there.
I've just created my Wowhead account - so please, be gentle.
I haven't played World of Warcraft since The Burning Crusade expansion but I am considering to begin the journey towards maximum level once more.
Just to try it I've downloaded the WoW-client, and I'm playing on a free-2-play account at the moment.
I thought of twinking my character, doing battlegrounds, and grinding enough honor points for me to buy heirlooms. With the heirlooms I could level a new character once I buy the game sometime soon. Is that a horrible idea, and is it even possible?
I'm sorry for my bad english, I'm not a native.

Good lord, that's nearly impossible
Do yourself a favor and don't try it, it's hard enough at level cap, but at level 20? It'll take ages.

Well I already have 1000 Justice Points and I started two days ago, so it's not impossible. But as - say, a Retribution paladin. Will the two-handed axe, shoulders and chest do a significant chance to my leveling expierience?

yeah they will. Look for a level 25 guild that will let you join to get the other two parts.

F2P cannot join guilds. Also, it's not really worth getting them on a free to play account if you do have a regular one; it's a far better idea to just reactivate that one.

Not as hard as it may seem to farm up honor for your heirlooms on a F2P. I've been honor capped with a few good days of pvp. You lose some in converting to justice, but not much to be done about that, just keep on grinding away.
Don't forget you can also do the darkmoone fair dailies for tickets, and buy heirlooms with those too. Takes a bit of saving those, but at least it's another source. Make several toons and put them all to work during the fair, buy one piece on each toon, then just delete the toons you don't want later. I think you can get a couple of the quest items for more tickets too, the banner from pvp plus an egg or such even in the lower level dungeons, just make sure you have your darkmoon book so that these quest items can drop for you, and also do your basic profession quests for extra tickets (cooking, first aid, fishing etc). I think you can earn enough tickets even during one faire to buy the lower cost items.

This might not be true for everyone, but I find it easier to get looms at low lvls as opposed to at the lvl cap. This might of changed with MoP as I have yet to get to 90 but I was an adamant PvPer during Cata. My word of advice, do what you feel most comfortable with =D

If you plan on twinking, you can get weapon, chest and shoulders in 3 days, just wait for arathi basin or warsong gulch call to arms.
They are a big help in leveling, but I'd reactivate my TBC account (you can even use a scroll of rezz, has some nice bonuses).

Thanks for the replies guys! I'm very pleased with the time it took for you to come up with some answers.
Now, totally off the topic:
I have an old World of Warcraft-account (the one mentioned earlier), which is inactive. I have the account-name (the vanilla name, as I like to call it), but I haven't got a battle.net account for it. What to do, what to do if I want to merge my F2P-account with my old one?
It would be lovely to get them merged as I have two level 70s on there.
Best regards,
Chr.

Your WoW accounts will still be separate. You can of course keep the F2P account F2P and add it to the same battle.net account as your old WoW account, but you can't get all of your characters on one WoW account unless you transfer them over. You'll still get achievements / mounts / pets etc shared between your F2P and old account, both ways (though you'll have to log onto a specific character for what that character has earned to show up across your battle.net account which means reactivating or using one of the "come back and try out WoW for x days" offers Blizzard periodically mails out for your old account).
Was too long ago for me to remember how adding WoW accounts to a battle.net account works but it should be fairly intuitive looking at the account pages. I imagine that trying to log into the old account would net you a prompt asking you to create a battle.net account or add the WoW account to an existing battle.net account.

this is not a horrible idea, i play at 20 as my endgame and have played here since early cata, farming up heirlooms on free to play is not a bad way to go, especially if you are looking into endgaming PvP at 90 and not raiding. although the looms will help you, it would be more beneficial to just upgrade and find a nice place in a leveling guild and powerdungeon to 90 as fast as you can. the 20 pvp bracket does have fast queue times, always around 6 minutes, fastest twinking bracket that has never been a true endgame. and it is only against free to plays and the few 24 twinks that play in it for the same reason people made 19s in wrath. it IS possible to get justice, and honor point heirlooms, as well as dread pirate ring (if you study the fishing tourney it's not hard on a 20). i have several friends though that made f2ps and upgraded, but decided they liked their twinks, and still play their non upgraded 20s on a seperate acc, the community is usually very friendly, and helpful. the most populated horde side realm in the bracket is arie peak, and from what i hear moonguard is good for ally (just keep away from GS) i play bladefist and we have a great set of players who are nice and very helpful. if you consider joining the f2p bracket as a side thing for when you are bored at 90, i would be happy to introduce you to my twinking friends. here are some of my f2ps so you can see just how serious the gearing can get--
