Description from our website (with liberties taken to add information pertaining to World of Warcraft):
Clan Woad was established because of a certain lack of choices at the time of its creation (May 1995). The members wanted a group where they could be assured of unmitigated support, (both militarily and verbally,) a social group of like-minded CRPG and MMORPG adventurers and a pool from which they could add and withdraw information and goods whenever they needed.
Clan Woad seeks to establish the most involved, and atmospheric group of any of the guilds online. Members of
Clan Woad will adventure the lands, sometimes alone, sometimes in groups, sometimes with other guilds, but always will bring what information they can back to their kinfolk and some will just want to jabber all night long with ya!
Clan Woad is not only a gaming clan, but a social clan. What makes us different from other clans is that we emphasize interaction with other people as well as members, and the tavern, (
#clanwoad on irc.beyondirc.net) will be the social hub for
Clan Woad where this interaction will bear its fruit.
We are not aiming to be the biggest Clan out there, we focus on quality over quantity. Woadies (as we refer ourselves) are lifetime friends. We're somewhat family friendly; if your family were The Osbournes! Although we
do try to maintain some class, there's just no telling what'll come out of a Woadie's mouth.
RP is light (and is generally Celtic, errr dwarven... themed). PvP, PvE, GvG, its up to you how you want to play. Lead a team and bring tales of your glorious victories to
The Blue Barbarian Tavern (IRC)! Our barkeep will keep your mugs filled with flagons of mead and ale!
We communicate via IRC, Vent and in game. Take a gander around our website for more information. Registering gets you access to all the site has to offer.
From an RP standpoint:
Clan Woad is more than a guild, it is a family of men and women who are prepared to lay down their lives for one another. We are kinfolk, linked by a shared history and culture, and sometimes shared adventures. We are most often seen together in taverns where we share stories and tell tales of our own exploits over skins of good
Clan Woad ale and mead. This is both to entertain each other and to keep ourselves aware of the goings-on of the world about us. We share knowledge of where wealth is to be found, who our friends are, who to be wary of... even which shops have good prices on equipment.
In essence we are a collection of good people. We do not believe in stealing from people who do not deserve it, or backstabbing a man or woman of honour, but if a person is notoriously ill-behaved (like
forcing PvP by being flagged and hovering around another's AOEs), it does not take much convincing to get a member of
Clan Woad to "set things straight." The old saying "you get what you deserve," is particularly apt when describing how the members of Woad will react to any given situation. This does not in any way mean that their reaction to a situation is predictable; if anything,
Clan Woad is notorious for the loud arguments in the taverns between its members when trying to decide how to approach a situation.
Paint yerself blue and start taking heads!
