For example:
Design: Purified Shadow Draenite
does not exist in game and never has. (Note the FACTION). As the poster says, probably from a dodgy server.
What is the mechanism for getting this stuff removed? I came across others today too I think.

You can report unused/bad data to feedback, either via the feedback button or . The recipe is most likely an unused one that's part of Blizzard's normal data files--there are lots of placeholder items with strange tooltips that we remove from search results every PTR cycle, like
Jin'ya, Orb of the Waterspeaker
, which looks like a Sha-Touched weapon but has bad stats. I'm guessing this recipe looked pretty normal, as opposed to an item like
Deprecate Snare Kit
, and that's why it wasn't caught back in TBC.

I could link the item in-game using the links button on the item page, so it is a valid item, even if it was never used.

Still should be marked as unobtainable, though ;)

That's well understood. They're addressing the notion that the data came from a private server.
The site is protected from that kind of data in numerous ways. It's not really a big concern but we always welcome and look into any reports to be safe.
