My experience is with Jewelcrafting however I imagine this applies to all the other professions also:

At the start of Legion I decided to drop Jewelcrafting for Mining to pair with my Engineering. After playing with Engineering for a bit and looking at the recipes I decided to change back to Jewelcrafting.

This book will only teach you Legion recipes you have learnt from Jewelcrafting. Any recipes from previous expansions will all need to be relearnt. Any unobtainable recipes will be lost if you unlearn the profession.

As I hadn't begun doing any Legion jewelcrafting quests upon unlearning it the only thing the book gave me was the skill at 1/800. Just a warning so you don't make the same mistake I did.

Back to doing the old Dalaran jewelcrafting dailies again!

"learned via questing"

This means, very specifically, that the design itself must be directly learned as the quest reward.

ALL DESIGNS PURCHASED FROM A VENDOR OR REWARDED FROM A WORLD QUEST ARE GONE.

This book is nothing more than the 3-5 recipes you learn as part of the leveling chain to open up Jabrul as a vendor in Dalaran. Everything else must be re-acquired.

I wasn't expecting all my old world designs to be restored, but I think most people will expect, as I did, that any Legion designs they had learned, including advanced ranks, would be re-learned, but that is not the case. I have paid a costly price to pass this information onto you people.

As a warning if your having issues choosing what you are going to choose as a profession with your new "100 Level" character choose carefully it will cost you 1,000 no matter what.

I switched thinking our group needed more of another profession. Didn't even level the profession at all, just bounced on completed the 1st quest, and then in conversations came up we might need Blacksmiths more. We found out that we had more than enough, so went back to Jewelcrafting and found out I couldn't unlock the ability to go up to 800.

Put in a ticket as to how to I get this back, I had "zero" skill in it before and "zero" skill in the new profession -- was sent the link to this page from Blizzard support to purchase this book. Unlike the cost for leveling where I would expect in proper increases per expansion this is a bit of a sticker shock.
