Oh no.. /facepalm
As someone who just left a guild and just found another, this would've been incredibly helpful. A wonderful idea.
Instead of pointing the player towards a guild why not point the guild towards the player.Im thinking about an in-game form, like a CV.This involves the guild creating a personalised application of sorts that will need to be completed by the applier. The guild will also need to complete an overview with basic information about what it's looking for(like checkboxes in the lfg tool, for example role, ilvl, experience) that will sort out the appliers.Once a specific number of players is sorted out the guild can send an invite to complete the guild application to the players in the field of interest.Meanwhile the player interested in joining a guild could complete a similar data overview of general interest that will help the tool into tracking the right guilds for him.Its just an ideea, most likely the system blizz is thinking about will turn out like this or better. But i still feel that guild applications should remain on guild homepages. There the application can be discussed, and it also reflects a certain interest on behalf of the applicant to actually go and complete the form
Yeah Basically it needs raid times for raiding guilds. And a PVE and PVP tickboxes.
In this suggested feature, it only refers to Part of what Guilds do, to a Roleplayer, a PvPer, or another miscellanious guild genre, this would be useless, and it also needs to get into more depth if it wants to give a detailed and helpful option to people looking for guilds.
I'm not feeling this. I don't see why it should be an in-game feature instead of just, you know, going to your realm's forums and posting saying who you are, what you're looking for, and then talking with possible guilds that meet your requirements. For instance, I have very specific requirements in a guild that I look for. It's not something I can just select a few widgets, write a brief "Experienced pally tank wanting to raid" text, and then see what's out there. I would much rather write a lengthy post and say what I want out of a guild, and what I can bring to the table (a cover letter, basically) and then let interested parties send me a tell and have an "interview" with them to see if we're a good fit.Not to mention the potential to lie. What I would like to see is a... how can I put this... job board for WoW guilds. You know, like Monster or Dice but for guilds to find players and players to find guilds; players could filter guilds on their server by criteria (or on other servers) and vice-versa. There would be "WoW Resumes" that would be sent to guilds and stored/updated (perhaps by scanning the armory) so many guilds could avoid having their own application process (and most use the same general thing, anyway). I could probably design a site like that (I'm a web developer by trade).
They wouldn't HAVE to make it. You can query the Armory (or scrape it, I don't know what's involved exactly), and everything else would just be a matter of setting up a site to list guilds recruiting and let player search for guilds by criteria, and then get the community to use it.I'm dead serious about trying to do something like that if I can hash out the details; I think it'd be really neat. I couldn't charge for it, obviously but how cool would it be to have a Monster.com for WoW to bring guilds and potential recruits together?
A dropdown at the top that have the options: Social Guild, Raiding Guild, PvP Guild (maybe RP Guild, but isn't that social? :D) and when selecting one of them gives unique optinons for the selections. For example a Raiding Guild, the boxes contains raiding related info they might wan't to know. And availability should imo have checkboxes for each day. (lets say a guild raiding Tue, Thu and Sun, but this tool only have an option called "I'm available every day!", instead of "I'm available theese days"). It's PTR but i really hope they put some more tepth in this. I have seen addon devs that does better UI work than blizz so I can't understand why things is so impossible for them.
I think it would be great to have the option to select the time when you have time to raid, some people cant play before lets say 8pm or they do shift work and need a guild that raids late night or early morning.A bit more flexibility would be great for this tool.
