In Cataclysm I was lonely on a new server that I moved to "Azjol-Nerub" in 2010, a guild whispered me saying "Hey I've seen you around lately, want to join my guild?" and I accepted, while the guild was 500+ strong it felt like I really knew everyone and they all knew me, and 4 years later I'm still talking to most of them.
I played from vanilla and have lost and gained friends along the way. But the one guy that prob will be there for the rest of my life is from my Wrath/Cata guild. Right after Cata launched I lost my mother to cancer. It had been a long battle against the illness that had taken it's toll on my psyc health. We had already become good budds, but even when I decided to take a "break" (I said I quit, but you never realy do...) he continued to chat me up on skype/FB and so on. He help me pull things together more than once just by getting my mind off things. He is one of the most important people I have formed a friendship with, not just in a game but my life overall. In the years we have played together, we have never met face to face. This may that will change tho, as I am going to England to stay 4 days at his place, hang out with my old raidleader, who is one of his friends and have some beers!World of Warcraft > Nokia. Connected with more people in WoW than with an Nokia! ;)
I actually already went through with this. I met my now boyfriend of over a year online playing WoW. Started off as friends and it just evolved from there. Luckily we found out we only live 3 hours away from one another, though he is in Canada and I'm in the States. WoW helped us find each other when under normal circumstances it probably never would have happened. We're planning our future together and I couldn't be more grateful. :)
I have met many people thro WoW, but none like my mate Gaz, when I first started playing WoW I was stuck & didn't really know the game so I joined a guild and he really helped & explained the game, helped with my gear & achievements etc. We became real ID friends and spoke on skype many a times and we have met IRL when he stayed for a few days (hogging my mrs pc so we could play WoW together lol).3 years on and we are still playing together & now helping each other out with a lot of fun and will be for a very long time :D
I met my husband on World of Warcraft. We just celebrated our first wedding anniversary! I've also met tons of other people I've played with and it's almost always been a wonderful experience!
A very very long time ago when I started playing the game, and a person at the time I didint know had just recently started to play the game as well, it was about the time when the Realm I play on had just been "Born" in a sense, well we were both fairly new to the game and I noticed that this person was dieing from to many mobs! So, I thought I would be nice and help them out so they didint die, and to this day about 6 or 7 years later we still talk daily and play with each other, it's one of the greatest Relationships I've had in a game. One small action to lead to something so much greater. :)
I've met my Current girlfriend and furure wife on WOW an also the mother of our 3 sons and we still play WOW together..Greetz
Ive met a few ppl during my time playing WoW (since Beta) that I consider friends. However, it wasnt untill BC that I first met players I would come to call friends. I was accosted by someone who was attempting to extort gold from new players. After my run in with him which im pretty sure resulted in him getting band, I met another player who had been his previous victim. After talking for an hour, he ended up making a guild and having been running solo for a while, I joined. Soon after that we came across other players who joined and started raiding, only to find most of us lived around the same city. 3 of us met up at first from time to time to have a few drinks and wreck the nearby arcade. Then we made a guild event of it and eight of us met up crashing in a motel room in the early hours of the next morning. We continued on through WotLK. Unfortunately people began to stop playing having grown tired of the game, and moved away. However some of us still keep in touch through facebook. Once again I returned to the life of a solo player, bouncing from guild to guild, finding myself not really fitting in. Then Cata came along. People came back and for a time, we quested together, enjoying the new content. But again, they soon got tired of it and left. It was during early Cata that dad inv me to the guild he was currently in ( yes, my dad plays video games, and its thanks to him that I play them too ). It was there that I would meet people I would call friends, and talk to on a daily basis and raid with for the next couple years. Though most live in New Zealand and I Australia, another also lived nearby and for a laugh, we went to an Octoberfest celebration. Recently, the guys from New Zealand have been thinking of coming over for a weeks holiday to visit and weve been discussing what were going to do while there here. Its thanks to games like WoW that a socialy awkward person such as myself is able to meet other people, talk to them and in some cases, meet up for a couple drinks and call them friends.
I have met my husband, and many great friends through this game. Some friends I don't keep in touch with often, some I talk to at least weekly (busy schedules). I've met quite a few in person already. :) I wouldn't feel very comfortable meeting any friends I haven't yet via tv show. :P I would enjoy watching it though!
I met some of my friends. They message me when they understood the meaning of my characters names. It is a Tagalog phrase or word. I also met friends out of WoW that plays the game.

i have several friends online whom i would love to meet in real life. however going to australia is out of my budget. but we are friends on facebook as well as in azeroth.
Met a hunter 3 years ago, we became really good friends. I met him on a dungeon at lvl 16+.. We raided together at higher levels and we even pvp'ed together. It was a good times, He was a hunter and i was a druid.. We became guildy after we got high leveled.. :DD we dungeoned until we reached 85 xD... But it changed when i havnt played wow for 1 year, I really missed him, my account was due of suspension and locked,, so yeah :D Good times... We were very very good friends
I started playing wow six years ago with my boyfriend . One night he needed help with an istance low-level and started to ask in trade chat for help. A guy responded by helping and we started talking more and more often. After some time he has presented his cousin and a friend of his , also they were playing wow . Four years ago we decided to meet , they came to our house one weekend . it was a beautiful weekend that unfortunately ended too soon. They live in Milan. We have entered a guild together and we met other people. We were not good and we decided to create our own guild where we could all play together . Even with these new guys we met, they live like us in Rome and it is easier hanging out . We often go to the movies together , eat a pizza , or simply spend an evening at home to be together. We saw each other twice in the last year with the boys of Milan and we feel every day. Meanwhile, we all play together in the same guild , the Dovahkiin . The beauty of online games is that, you can find many different people , some of them as exceptional . We were lucky to find friendships like that, now we go out almost every week , and we pass all New Years and birthdays together. With the boys of Milan we often see as soon as we can. world of warcraft in not only a games, without him we would not have found these beautiful friendships.Yelenha and Blinn
Back id say in 2007/2008 (i had been playing wow since 06) i joined a guild where one of the members/leaders was named biggiefries, stormpooper, he also had alot of alts with hilarious names. My now ex and I had become fast friends with him always running places in the game and talking jokes. My ex and i were moving to FL and he was located in FL as well and thought why not pass thru his area and say hello. We agreed to meet up as a gas station and while my ex was pumping gas he (pooper as we called him even in real life as well) came up next to him like he was going to mug him and scared the sh*t out him. It was quite hilarious. Not knowing what kind of people we were in real life he took us into his home for a few days where we had our computers that we set up and played non stop wow. He also showed us the surrounding areas and took us boating. It was quite the experience. And we went back to visit on my own birthday where my ex had proposed to me on poopers boat. and the other times we visited it was always much fun and gaming. My ex and i split so I moved back to WI so tho we dont get to visit and experience accidental moldy cake for my birthday (another funny story in itself where they got me a cake and after eating it discovered mold!) its still a running joke and were great friends.
I have made lots of great friends over WoW that I still Skype and text and stuff, but all of them live across the country from me, especially this one girl haha. I would love to meet her or any of them in person!
I'd never believe that i could make such great friends through an online community but i was wrong :D
I made a friend at the beginning of BC, we've stayed in touch ever since, he doesn't play much anymore but we always talk about the times we had, we ended up doing refer a friend several times when he couldn't decide if he wanted to play anymore.
