In BfA unicorns are going to be part of the stag family. I wonder if this particular one will be tamable.

I can confirm that this particular one still cannot be tamed as of patch 8.0.1. I tried taming it several times today, including in BM spec. Too bad, it's a really nice model. :/

As of Shadowlands (And its PTR), this beauty is now tameable. It retains its ethereal yellow glow, as well as the red gas cloud under its body. To tame it, simply enter Bonich, turn around, and wait for them to run close enough for Tame Beast to reach.

It will be available pre patch Shadowlands. On Petopia there are special instructions how to get it pre-patch as follows:
"Invasion Point: Bonich
This runner is found outside the zone barrier, so cannot be physically reached. Instead, go directly behind the entry portal and stand in the break between the logs, facing the barrier. Further ahead you'll see a log with a clump of ferns at its right-hand end. Place a freezing trap just in front of the ferns. Every couple of minutes some Ephemeral Runners will run past and with good placement you'll trap one and can tame it.

Invasion Point: Bonich may be reached through a portal in northern Antoran Wastes, Argus."

I think these have been removed from game as I have been standing here for 15 minutes without seeing a single 1. It is a greater invasion if that makes a difference though.

These are now tameable! Just got myself one. Invasion Point: Bonich, turn immediately around and put a trap by the fern right in front of you. Two of them spawn at a time, and there is a bit of a wait for respawn a few minutes at least.

Can confirm that these are in fact tameable in the pre-patch. Went to the Invasion Point: Bonich (happened to be Mac'Aree. It wasn't a greater invasion and cannot comment on whether these spawn there. I followed everyone's suggestion of trapping with an ice trap. There are a pair that run behind the portal (can't reach them but can see them). Beast tracking is helpful, as you can see them approach before they arrive and you can prepare your trap. I thought at first that they weren't there, but after waiting 5 minutes or so, they were, in fact, there. I tamed one, which caused only one horse to be on the next pat, but I exited the portal and re-entered the invasion and both were spawned again. Tested with another hunter who tamed one and killed the other. Left the portal, re-entered (not sure if re-entering is even necessary, but I did just in case), and waited and both respawned.

got 2 of them, regular invasion, not greater, tamed 2, as I may use the companion at a later date instead of dire beast, and as the invasions are on a rotation, and I'm not always in Argus. was easy, just targeted and tamed, no trap, and then waited til the other ran back around :) i'm on Exodar, and was around 3:30 pacific time. night elf huntress, level 50.

You don't need the ice trap so don't panic if you miss. I threw my ice trap too far back, so they ran by it, but since they were in range, I was still able to tame before they reached me.

For my particular tame, I went left of the entrance to where the Ephemeral Runners spawn in - the edge logs make a "v" shape (not the "x" shape that is immediately left of the entrance), I used the following macro:

/cleartarget
/tar Ephemeral Runner
/cast Tranquilizing Shot

I waited for it to come into range, and then cast Tame. I was finding it difficult to get it using other methods outlined here, so here's an alternative for those who might also need it! Tranquilizing Shot has a 40yd range, and it was definitely more forgiving on positioning!

Anyone else finding that the Ephemeral Runner looks like a Veil Shadowrunner on the Log-in screen as well as when dead on the ground as a hunter pet?
I've had it as my active Hunter Pet for 9 days & the previous one I'd had up (now in the stable) was the Veil Shadowrunner.
I know that transmog, appearance changes as well as hunter pet swaps sometimes take hours or even a couple of days to update on the Log-in screen but after 9 days I'm wondering if the ephemeral runner even has unique graphics for dead and log-ins?

Choose specialization Survival and use ability "Harpoon" to one of the Toads in the small lake. You can easy get out of bounds of the map and tame the Ephemeral Runner easily. Good Luck.

I just noticed something weird. I tamed two of these beauties last night, but they don't appear to be re-nameable. I've tried everything. Long names, short names, no symbols, accents, different names. Nothing appears to work. :(
