I think this mob has a great name. Many players probably think their real life jobs are "muck sifting," right?

There are two locations in The Briny Muck where the rippers have made cooking fires complete with kettles. If you spend enough time there, you'll eventually see a ripper run up to a Muck Sifter, stun it, lift it, carry it back to the kettle, and drop it in. It's cute! But I feel sorry for the poor Muck Sifter.

For anyone farming Raw Crab Meat from these guys, there's an island with a sea monster skeleton on it where they spawn very rapidly. I don't have coords, but it is located under the "K" in Briny Muck on the map.

If you use the Klaxxi Augmentation "Master of Puppets" on a Muck Sifter it will do an interesting thing. While fighting it will acquire a buff called Rage of Elders where it becomes huge, and also a Ghostcrawler-like spirit beast crab will spawn with it. This gives the Muck Sifter a 10% boost. Even if it didn't it's just fun to watch.

I advice using the Klaxxi Augmentation 'Speed King' while farming this, it makes the whole process alot faster!

I would suggest going a bit further west into the Briny Muck than the above post, all the way to the edge of the Muckscale Shallows. Here's why:

1.) There is a great spawn rate of not only the Muck Sifter, but also the Brineshell Snapper - So you can get Raw Crab Meat and Raw Turtle Meat fairly easily.

2.) It is far enough away from Red / Aggro Mobs such as the Kyparite Pulverizer and Kypa'ral (90 elite) - So you only have to fight / pull what you want to without ambush.

3.) It's right on the edge of the Muckscale Shallows where you can go to fish Reef Octopus and Giant Mantis Shrimp.

This is an extra sweet spot for skinners as you can skin both the crabs and turtles - Happy Hunting!
