If it is not obvious yet, Death-knights can not do this quest since they start at 55 with a mount quest right away.

I just started leveling an Alt after the release of patch 3.3, and when i hit 20 i didn't recieve a mail giving me this quest like i have done with previous Alts. Either something freak happened which prevented me getting the mail, or this quest has been removed as of 3.3.

If anyone knows something i don't, please correct me, cheers.

EDIT: I think i have worked out why. If you want to complete this quest, do NOT learn the riding skill until you get this mail in the post. As a warlock the first thing i did was train it from the vender before i got the mail. From what i have seen from the similar mail you get at level 40 is that it takes about an hour for you to get the post. This is probably blizzards way of checking to see if you know about learning to ride at these levels already. They must check if you have learned it before sending the mail, which is why i didnt get it at level 20 because i trained too fast.

The riding training pamphlet came an hour after I hit level 20 in my mailbox. For those that are interested in earning achievements, I suggest waiting on training riding until you receive this quest. It can count towards your Loremaster achievement.

If the letter containing this quest isn't showing up in your mailbox, try traveling (either on foot or by flight path) through your initial zone (in this case, Elwynn Forest). This seems to be what causes the message to be sent, and it should show up in a couple of minutes.

Please note that this quest is bugged, at least for Paladins, and possibly since patch 4.0.1.

Paladins seem to learn Apprentice Riding instantly now, as soon as they level up to 20. This seems to affect the conditions for receiving the pamphlet item in your mailbox. It no longer appears, whatever you try to do.

If you're a completionist like me, and you're using the quest tracker, you can probably exclude this quest, as you're most likely not ever going to start nor complete it, until this bug is fixed, or the quest is removed completely.

If you want the Human mounts go to Old Town in SW, the Riding Trainer and Stable Master are there too, along with the mount vendor.
