Head directly ENE from the questgiver. Don't stray south at all or the basilisks will harry you. Eventually, you'll see some other Guardians, and past those are some Stonethrowers in front of a Stonehenge-lookin area. That's where you're headed.

Also, don't try to attack the Stone Drakes to save any of your Guardians. They hurt pretty bad. Just mount up and ride.

if you get the message "you do not meet requirements for this quest" Go to the pale roost to get the quest.

Only got followed by one drake, though I'm not sure if that was supposed to happen. I just killed it because it wouldn't stop Stone Breathing me, thus screwing up my movement speed. 84 Druid.

If you do anything at all to aggro any of the Stone Drakes, they do not reset, no matter how far you kite them nor upon turning in the quest. If you can hearth out or kill them solo, great, otherwise you need to alt-f4 and wait for the server to unbreak itself. (If you have any kind of attacking-while-moving abilities, killing them is trivially easy.)

Ok this was a bit of a pain to find the start and end points so I uploaded
a map showing the start and end points for this quest.

The map was uploaded on January 3 2011 and hopefully
will be approved shortly

The quest starts at 40.19 approximately.

If you do not have an add on that gives you the Co-ordinates
then if you look on your map find the R in "The Pale Roost"
and that is where it starts.

The quest ends at approximately 50,13

The best way to do this quest is to go North I can confirm that
DO NOT go south out of the starting area GO NORTH and
you won't run into as much problems.

Do not go south or you will agro a bunch of Shalehide Basillisk's

if you are seeing the Basillisk's then you have gone the wrong way
GO NORTH not south.

I can also confirm that you can use your fly mount for
this quest that is how I did it. When I turned my quest in though
I dismounted and turned the quest in I am not sure if that
makes a difference or not.

The first time I did this, I dropped off of the ledge by the quest giver a bit to the south, and as I headed east, all of my earth elemental followers but two veered off and ran to a plateau south of me. Second time I dropped off the ledge to the very east and wasn't even attacked by dragons - got them all there.

I found you can be too fast. I have master riding, and following remarks here I flew off at full speed. I lost the followers in short order and had to come back and start again. A short pause every two or three seconds was good enough. Other than that - no problems.

Edit: Nevermind. Apparently, I was picking the little guys up from the wrong incarnation of the quest giver. Right guy, wrong spot. It made the little guys not want to follow me properly.

If you rush-accept this quest and run you might miss what to do, as I did.

Although the quest text does not say it, you need to talk with Terrath the Steady to obtain the Opalescent Guardians that you are to escort.

Not to be confused with Opalescent Guardian in the same area, these will not interact with you.

Ok, if you don't like watching videos or trying to interpret other peoples' maps, here's the best route to follow to get this quest done:

Talk to Terrath a second time to confirm you're ready, and pick up your followers. Look to the North-East (use your mini-map to point your arrow to the top-right). You'll see a triangular archway formed by two rock pillars, one of which has fallen over and is leaning against the other. Lead your followers under that archway.

As you pass under the archway, you should see some green crystals ahead, at the base of a cliff. Head just to the left of those crystals. Be careful, you may see some Stone Drakes sitting on the ground, usually to the left of your route. Keep away from those as they will aggro and attack you if you get too close. Don't worry about the Drakes flying overhead, they don't usually get close enough to aggro. (If you're leading you followers on a flying mount, don't fly too high.)

As you pass the green crystals, turn slightly to your right and keep going. On the dark-coloured ground up ahead you should see some stones come into view, surrounded by several rock giants ("Opal Stonethrowers"). There should be a stone arch which looks a little bit like Stonehenge. Head for those stones. Don't worry about the giants, they're friendly.

As you approach the stones, you should see the message confirming that you've completed the quest.

Since it's been a while that the last comment was made, I thought I'd let others know that the comments here still work. First time I did it, I didn't pay attention to the fact that the mobs are attacking from above so I made it almost there before I realized where the attacks were coming from. I did this on a level 52 outlaw rogue and while I could handle one dragon at a time, the second time I tried it, I ended up with two at once. THEN I came here looking for answers and the mount up worked. I stayed on the ground and never saw a dragon attack. Made it there with more than five.

Description

When Deathwing came, the Stone Dragons flocked to him. In his absence, they are again without purpose. They swarm and feed upon our kin.

I have bound dozens of Opalescent Guardians, but am unable to lead them from the safety of cover. I need someone more swift, as I suspect you might be.

Lead them by ground towards Therazane's Throne to the east. Surely, some will not make it, but as long as you keep moving, you should be able to bring several to join our forces there.
