As a level 80 Rogue, I get the "You do not meet the requirements for this quest" message even though I was able to do the previous quest in the chain.

I was a bit surprised, and more than a bit upset that the only reward is a dagger, whereas pretty much every other class weapon quest gives you a choice to match any of the specs.

I am the Combat Rogue, weeping bitter tears for a cool dagger I cannot use. Much. Usefully.

Getting this quest as a 20-something char... what is it I'm supposed to do, where is it I'm supposed to go, how is it I'm supposed to get there?
I'm given this quest in Stormwind City... from there, what is it I'm supposed to do to get to the place where I've to continue upon this quest? Am I to run there? Is there a boat?
Once there, what do I need? Is this a dungeon? Should I bring friends?

Seriously.. they want you to go to SFK. Do they not know Hillsbrad is under Horde control now? What was Blizzard thinking when they did this quest? And for what... a dagger you're just going to get rid of for something better?
Just abandon this idiotic quest.

I see the only way to really do this is to have a second account, have your main who is really rich and can afford to get the Vial of the Sands (or can make it) and fly the low level char there. Other than that, I don't see a way.

Ok so you are doing this quest at the level for which it was intended, you found a group for SFK in the dungeon finder, and you are on your way. What to do when you get there is obviously the most important question and it hasn't really been answered up to this point.

When you get inside the instance, look through the bars in front of you. You will see the Frantic Geists running around with red letters above them. These are the mobs that drop the five deathless sinew that you need for the quest. If your group leader knows where he is going, you will be in that courtyard shortly. You will actually meet some of these guys as soon as you go in the door on your right. It won't take long to get the five sinews.

Once you are in the courtyard, you should see a pile of ingots on either side of the ramp going up to the next part of the instance. Keep following the hallway and you will see a third one on the right when you come to the entrance on the left leading down to the kitchen. After you go around the corner from this area you will see a fourth one on the right.

In the next room where the Wailing Guardsmen are, you will find enough ingots to complete the five you need. Commander Springvale, who drops the sharpening stone, is in the same room you are now in. Good Luck!

A Rogue's Ambush skill does increased damage if you have an equipped dagger (in either hand). The Subtelty Rogue's Backstab ability (learned at level 40) requires an equipped dagger in the main hand. I have found that a good dagger is essential to effective PVE play for my rogue. I was quite happy to get blue dagger at this level.

Edit: added links to the abilities, and corrected the 'Backstab' reference as a level 40 Subtelty spec ability.

well thats annoying. I roll this new toon. A Rogue Worgen in 2021 during shadowlands. i get this quest for a great dagger at my level, which is fine. but at this point its impossible to group in LFG because it all starts at BfA content. old questline have been abandonned and neglected by blizzard. thanks a lot Bliz.

A Royal Reward

Go to Shadowfang Keep and obtain the Springvale's Sharpening Stone from Commander Springvale, 5 crates of Moonsteel Ingots, and 5 Deathless Sinew.

Description

SI:7 has been watching your progress with interest. You service to the Alliance is well-known and tales of your deeds have reached the king's ears.

In recognition of your service, King Wrynn has commissioned the royal armorer to forge a special weapon.

The cursed Shadowfang Keep in Silverpine Forest is home to the exotic materials for your weapon. Travel there and recover Commander Springvale's sharpening stone, a supply of moonsteel ingots, and sinew from the ghouls and geists infesting the keep.
