This quest has some ties to stories such as the 2008 movie Forbidden Kingdom.

Anduin Wrynn:
According to my research, the pandaren long ago made a special mallet that was intended for the Divine Bell. When using the mallet on the Divine Bell, the pandaren monks were able to create pure harmony. But then the Monkey King one day decided to steal the mallet and hide it as a prank. There is no record of the mallet after that.

What I did find, however, was the final resting place of the infamous "Monkey King." The tricky part is, he was frozen in jade while dueling a mogu that history names "The Jade Warlord." I found an incantation to release these two from their prison. But it will release both of them. Once I cast this, defeat the Jade Warlord before he can get his barrings (bearings?).

Anduin Wrynn:
Here goes nothing. My research did not have nice things to say about this Jade Warlord. Be ready for battle.

Iiiiiiiiii'm back Wikkets!

Anduin Wrynn:
Ah... your grace?
The Monkey King:
Ooo? Grace? I not an emperor, little thing. You stand before the Monkey King!
Anduin Wrynn:
My apologies. My name is Anduin Wrynn. This champion and I need your help.
The Monkey King:
Help? You saved me from eternity trapped in jade! I'm gonna throw you the biggest party ever made!
Anduin Wrynn:
Thank you, but this is hardly the time for a party. A dangerous war leader named Garrosh has found the Divine Bell. We need the Harmonic Mallet to counter it.
The Monkey King:
Oh... the missing Harmonic Mallet, eh? Such a silly name. So you come find the King because he is to blame?
Anduin Wrynn:
Well, my research said you were the last one to-
The Monkey King:
Ah ya ta ta! Don't worry, you in the right place. But let's first see if I like what comes out of your face.

If you have the tune from Monkey (Monkey Magic) in your head while reading the quest text from the Monkey King it fits perfectly with the theme music of that show.

Okay so I took the flight, I escorted the guy... Completed "The Monkey King" but then my LFR popped and I took it... Now I don't know where to go to get the followup quests!

Any ideas?

My dungeon popped while I was on my way to the King, after that Anduin was nowhere to be seen.

I tried logging out and in, didn't help; abounded the quest and there he was again.

If you're having trouble getting credit for the "Release the Monkey King" objective, make sure you are landing the killing blow on The Jade Emperor. If you stand behind the Emperor's spawn point and wait for him to respawn, you should be able to tag him without enlisting the aid of Anduin or the Monkey King.

I tried the quest several times unsuccessfully before figuring this out.

Its funny how Illidan and the monkey king were imprisoned for about the same time :P

The Monkey King is a reference to Son Gokū (aka Sun WuKong) from the Chinese legend Journey to the West, or Saiyuki. In the game he even has on his head a diadem like the one given to Sun WuKong in the legend by the priest Xuánzàng Sānzàng (Genjō-Sanzō) to control his powers when he misbehaved.

Description

Ever since the Horde captured the Divine Bell I have been searching for a means to counter its power.

My research got as far as this tomb. I am going inside. If you follow me, I will share the rest as we go.
