So, I have the quest in my garrison right now from Baros Alexston to build a professional building. But I already have one. All it let's me do is replace what I have and I don't want to do that. Wondering if the quest just sit there forever now. Or this this just another broken thing?

If you have started construction on your professions building of choice before picking up this quest, it is no longer available.

Maybe I just don't get it. I'm using Zygor and it says "If you don't have any professions, you won't be able to pick up this quest". But I have skinning and mining, both leveled to 600. What's up with that?

MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR BAG. I had the gem recipe in my bag since im a jewelcrafter you have to learn that first then you can build.

If you have built a small plot for one of your professions without having the quest completed, you are going to have an issue. Make sure that you have trained the item in your bags from previous quests that give you the Garrison plots/plans. Afterwards, use the workshop table outside of the main garrison hut to place your profession item on the small plot. If you do it in this order, you should get quest credit.

TL;DR: Per a GM, they know it's broken and there is currently no fix in place.

I have two professions buildings completely built, I'm level 100 with a level 3 garrison, and all of a sudden, this quest pops up. I now have a third small plot available, so I COULD build another profession there, but I don't need one and I want to put the salvage building there. However, the salvage building doesn't count toward the quest, nor is it unlocked for me yet. I don't want to destroy my level two buildings and rebuild them just to complete the quest. So yeah....this is very confusing. I have submitted a ticket and will update this post when I get an answer.

UPDATE: So after submitting no less than FIVE tickets (each one went unread and they just responded with a cut & paste message that said "if you're having trouble with a quest check the forums for other answers from the community") I finally got a response that said they are aware of the issue but they are not going to auto-complete any quests for anyone at this time, even though they have the capability to do so. He said that if they do it for one person, they will just get flooded with requests to do it for everyone else. The Game Master had the nerve to tell me that "it's not that expensive to tear down a building and rebuild it, so I suggest you just do that to solve the problem." So I guess we get to pay for their screwed up system. No thanks, I abandoned the quest.

I got this quest after building my forge and upgrading my garrison to level 2. What I did to complete the quest is drop a profession building onto my new small plot which is all that's required for the quest. I then turned in the quest and cancelled construction on the profession building which refunded the cost. You can then put whatever you want in the spot without losing any resources or gold.

Well I came here for the same reason as the rest of you. Garrison is level 2. I have Blacksmithing and Mining. So I dropped a Forge on one of my small plots and a Storehouse on the other. Just noticed today that this quest isn't completed. Tried moving the small buildings around on the architect table. No luck. Abandoned the quest and now he doesn't offer it anymore! Sooooooo. Don't abandon it. Yet. Wait and see what Vavaa's response is to their ticket.

I have the same issue a lot of you are having I have a level 3 garrison with all my plots used and upgraded to level 2. Does anyone know if upgrading a professions building will also count towards the achievement? I currently can't upgrade to level 3 yet to test this.

Apparently I falsely assumed that any small building would work for this... I already had an Alchemy Lab, so I built a Scrapyard and thought the quest would complete when I finished the building. Y_Y

So I got this quest after upgrading my garrison to level 3. I had already built two profession buildings (Enchanting and Tailoring) and upgraded both to level 2. I got an extra small plot and decided to use it to build a Storehouse so I can access my bank. Like many others on this post, I had trouble figuring out how to complete this quest without spending gold and resources to do so. Given the fact that you basically get nothing for completing it, I found it pretty pointless. Hence, I just decided to abandon it.

My experience is that this quest is triggered when you get your first professions building plan whether from the appropriate profession quest or purchase. All it seems to be good for is to point out you have your first plans to build a profession building and you can do that. It does not accelerate the building or do anything special.

I chose to do the associated quest for my professions to get the plans instead of buying which seems like a waste of gold. ;-)

If you have profession buildings already and can't get the quest to complete, just abandon it. You get a big ol' Zilcho from the quest-completion. It's a breadcrumb in the truest sense in that there is ZERO reward, but it's a "here's how to set a building" kind of quest. I imagine it will get fixed one day, but it's in no way a hindrance to progression and there's not really any rewards, so it's not going to be a priority.

If you have a spare slot for a small building, you can build, complete quest, cancel build and then put whatever you want there

After doing the garrison campaign where Baros Alexston dies there is no way to turn-in the quest even after completion, so at that point it is 100% safe to just abandon it without any fear of it reappearing as a quest marker.
