I found him right outside of my Town Hall of my garrisson, standing to the right side of the steps. He wasn't glowing or anything, just hovered over npcs until I found his name.

5 easy stages , the last one is defeating a thunderloard champion, but you have the help of many npc friends to take him down.
heal some npcs along the fight and get some allys spys marked in red

For anyone who can't pick up this quest, you have to turn in To the Garrison before Durotan will give you this quest.

Took me longer than I'd care to admit to figure that out.

Just stand in the center and wait for the warning when certain npc's are attacking. Then when stage 6 comes just use all of your hardest hitting attacks/spells and done. I barely did anything and got it done, unless I was just lucky. lol

Confirmed that Garrison level 3 is the cause of this problem. It's a level 90 quest at the beginning of the Garrison chain, so you would normally have a lower Garrison when you get this quest.

It's being worked on for a fix anyhow.

Totally annoying quest, at least with Garrison 2. If you can do this at Garrison 1, do it.

I couldn't get this quest until completing "Fall of the Warlord" (Grulloc) which gave me "To the Garrison." I had completed nearly all the quests in Frostfire but there are still bugs about.

So awesome story.... Read all these reviews after I also could not seem to get Grimjaw to start anything, had a lvl 3 Garrison and decided "Well I'll wait for a fix". couple hours later I saw that the quest came up as failed and abandoned it thinking maybe if I re-grabbed the quest it might work.... without thinking about how I just completed the "Iron Wolf" quest chain and now Durotan and Thrall are both no longer chillin in my Garrison. No quests to hand out at there locales in Worgol or Bladespire either.... So now im stuck with no quest and no way to get it back, pretty sure this quest leads to a regular "Attack" on the garrison itself and I'd be missing out on something so im inclined to figure something out. Thoughts?

This quest is for Level 2 Garrisons only. Hotfixed as of 11-18-14, here's the copy from the blue post at this link.

Thunderlord Invasion!: The quest is now automatically removed from the character's quest log if they upgrade to a Tier 3 Garrison as this quest is only available for Tier 2 Garrisons.

Have a friend come to your garrison for these quests. They can help fight to fend off the attacks, and more importantly they will also get the xp and Apexis Crystals!

Then you can join them in theirs... double xp and Crystals for both of you!

I got stuck after turning in Return to the Pack. I thought the questline had bugged for me, but it turns out I just needed to complete the entire Save Wolf Home series. Thunderlord Invasion! finally showed up for me after I turned in To the Garrison

For those who wonder... neither you, nor your friends (if you bring some) will get any bags even if you do very good... there is no score in this invasion so don't invite any 100's to help you get "gold" xD so no goodies bags... just 50 apexis crystals :D

This was hotfixed yesterday. http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/16561637/603-hotfixes-november-18-11-18-2014 - If you did not do this it will disappear from your quest log and will not be required to do other invasions. You will be able to do other invasions and not miss out on anything out the gold from completion and the "experience" for leveling and the "experience" of doing it. If you play on an alt and do not level past it you can see it again.

There are 6 stages in this quest and I recommend that you pay attention to the mini map during the battle, and buff up with potions, etc... to help boost your DPS. ~ During this quest you will see several large red dots on the mini map that represent incoming groups of mobs. Take them out to move onto the next stage. All of the stages are simple enough if you pay attention to the mini map and are well geared, and buffed. The hardest of the stages is obviously the final one where you will have to defeat Aggar Thunder-Reaver. He will come in thru the Northern gate of your Garrison and is a level 94 Elite.

Side Note: Those of you who wish to level up quickly should buy the Excess Potion of Accelerated Learning and if you have the resources to keep buying them from the innkeeper in your Garrison’s Town Hall; use them. They will increase your toon’s “experience” when killing monsters and turning in all quests by 20 percent.

Turn the quest in asap, its basically a 24 hour timed quest. If you wait till tomorrow it will show up as failed even if you had completed all the objectives minus turning it in. It will also show up failed if you wait a day and havent even started the invasion portion of it

for those who are lazy like me and doing this on various alts, you can afk for the whole stage (the one you have to wait 5m) inside your main building and, when its finish, just clear the remaining mobs

In order to get this question from Sergeant Grimjaw you need to have finished Return to the Pack *and* have your Garrison at Level 2. If you upgrade your Garrison to Level 3 you will no longer be able to pick it up and by extension move on to The Iron Wolf and the rest of that Quest chain. If you have upgraded to Level three before doing the invasion, GM's will be able to start the Iron Wolf Quest line for you, but seemingly Thunderlord Invasion is a lost cause.

Searched all over for a reason why I couldn't accept this quest, and it turns out that you also need to have completed To the Garrison to accept this. Hopefully this helps someone!

For some reason, got stuck in a never-ending cycle of rylak, spy, sniper, and assassin. I had to drop quest and restart it.
Best advice found in this thread: during the "endure" part, just stand in center so you can protect your buildings from spies, and do a minimum otherwise.

A couple of notes post level squish:

Grab a patrol buddy follower, the ones that while not on a mission wander around your garrison. They didn't fully get the level squish and kill enemies in a couple of hits. I used Dagg and he was meleeing for 1k-2k
The enemies on the wall don't jump down unless you aggro them with a ranged attack and stay in line of sight. Just tag them with an ability and be patient if you're a melee character. Alternatively, abilities like survival's harpoon or shadow step are able to get you up there.

This is the dumbest, damned thing. Maybe 12 or so enemies show up standing on the walls at the end, you can't get up there to fight them, and since I'm a warrior, I have one ability to attack them that does 1-2% damage with a six-second cooldown. However, after multiple attempts at finishing, I realized that if you just stand there for about five minutes or so the quest does eventually progress. So be patient and embrace the bugs!

Best to just wait until you can fly to tackle this one so that you have an easier time getting ahold of the enemies on the walls that, for some reason, are bugged and will just stay up there, unless you're a ranged class. Even then it can be tedious trying to get LOS on them. Alternatively you can simply wait until tings time out, but it might not always work.
