What is Reaves Battery?

Reaves Battery, an Engineering item coming in Legion can be crafted at skill level 700. It will be a Engineering multipurpose helper!

How do I craft Reaves Battery?

The quest Always the Last Thing, part of a chain of Engineering quests, grants 1 Reaves Battery as a reward and teaches you Schematic: Reaves Battery.
Reaves Battery is the basic item. At present is soulbound, and stacks to 20 - as such it is a consumable item for Engineers alone.

The materials to craft 1 Reaves Battery is a meager 5 Felslate.

What can Reaves Battery do?

A number of modules can be also crafted by Engineers. Note that they are Bind-on-Pickup. These modules "supercharge" Reaves to grant him certain useful abilities!

For example, the follow-up quest to Always the Last Thing is Modular Modifications, which has you create and install a Reaves Module: Snack Distribution Mode on Reaves, and as a reward you learn the Schematics: Reaves Module: Repair Mode.
Using any module will unlock that ability for all future Reaves Battery that you drop. As you use more modules, your Reaves Battery will have more options available when dropped.
Reaves isn't stationary when summoned - he will follow you around until he despawns after 10 minutes.
Once you set a mode for Reaves Battery, he is "locked" to that mode; you must drop another to use a different function.
There is a 90 second cooldown to use Reaves.

Below is a list of various modules that have been unearthed so far!

Reaves Module: Repair Mode
Gives Reaves the ability to Repair gear.
Reaves Module: Failure Detection Mode
Gives Reaves the ability to resurrect players after a wipe, similar to Failure Detection Pylon.
Reaves Module: Wormhole Generator Mode
Gives Reaves the ability to teleport players elsewhere (similar to Wormhole Centrifuge and other Engineering Wormhole items).
Reaves Module: Bling Mode
Gives Reaves the ability to act as a Blingtron, and grant gifts!
Reaves Module: Piloted Combat Mode
Gives Reaves the ability to be controlled to combat other mechanicals.
Reaves Module: Fireworks Display Mode
Gives Reaves the ability to put on a Fireworks display.
Reaves Module: Snack Distribution Mode
Turns Reaves an interactable "feast" - all party/raid members that eat this feast gain a +225 versatility buff.

This quest has you doing errands within Dalaran where you basically pickup an item, and then run back to Didi to let her test it. It's performed in the following order:

Run to the Jewelcrafters and talk to Tiffany Cartier to get the Diamond, then run back to Didi.

Run to the Alchemists and talk to Deucus Valdera (the Undead) to get the potion, then run back to Didi.

Run to the inn and talk to Bonegrim who stands in the bar and tells you he won't give you get Core unless you steal a jewel for him.

Run upstairs and tell Catriona she's needed downstairs, and when she's gone you steal her Jewel which is next to her bed.

Run back downstairs and talk to Bonegrim to trade the jewel for the core, and then finally return to Didi.

In this quest we are building the Reaves Battery

Speak with the Jewelcrafting Supplies vendor Tiffany Cartier
/way 38.7, 35.0 Tiffany Cartier
Return back to Didi the Wrench and he will say that this doesn't work
Try alchemy Deucus Valdera
/way 40.0, 30.1 Deucus Valdera
Return back to Didi the Wrench and he will say that we need Fel-Infused Core
Go to the Lendgerdemain Lounge and find Bonegrim
Orc is near the bar
/way 48 38 Bonegrim
He asks you to steel the red jewel upstairs, lol
Stairs up are near the right entrance
Catriona's Jewel is in the first room to the right
You can take Catriona's Jewel from it but first tell Catriona Macrae that someone is looking for her downstairs, haha
Give the Catriona's Jewel to the Bonegrim and he gives you Fel-Infused Core
Return back to Didi the Wrench . Success!
We can use Reaves now, just need to craft some Reaves Battery

Use the battary and it will summon Reaves

Initially he is not usefull, but you can install several modules on him

How modes work:

Craft some module once

Install it by speaking with Reaves
Now you can activate it every time you summon the Reaves
Can activate only one mode per Reaves Battery use
But Reaves Battery has short CD

If you, like me, are unable to pick up the jewel after Catriona has left, you may also be on the Jewelcrafting quest An Eye for Detail. Finish that quest without dropping this one, and you'll be able to pick up the jewel.

Greetings!

If you are like me and had moved onto the next quest and used your Reaves battery by accident but suddenly you can't make Reaves any more and yer wondering how the heck you can progress and you made it here finding out you already did the quest to get the recipe to make Reaves, well look no further.

Go back to the Engineering building in Dalaran and talk to Hobart Grapplehammer, goto his 2nd page of stuff and spend 800 gold on Forgotten Schematics of the Broken Isle. Use said item then open up your engineering panel and viola you can make Reaves Batteries once again.

Hope this helps someone else that ran into the same situation as I did.

Anyone have issues completing this quest? I cannot pick up the red jewel to give to trade for the fel-infused Core.
Ive abandoned and restarted the quest but i cannot pick the damn thing up to give to bonegrim for the fel-infused core please advise anyone

Do you have to be level 100+ to get this quest? I finished The Missing Pieces but Always the Last Thing isn't being offered at level 98.

After trying TWICE to get the jewel with her in the room, been told "Excuse me, but that's my jewel. Could you please leave it alone" each time, and then sending her downstairs; I think she will now it was me who took it >.<

So, in my quest to gain the discount Jeeves, I did all the quests for the ENTIRE engineering chain, in which it seem that being able to craft reaves batteries is either bugged, or I didn't do some internal trigger. As following a suggestion made by another commenter, buying the forgotten schematics of the broken isles did indeed add the reaves battery to my engineering journal, but it also added bling mode which required 100 legion engineering to learn, which I don't have.

I'm not sure what went wrong or why I didn't have it before given I did everything in theory, yet it just seems like its still very buggy and needs to be fixed honestly.

Can't do this quest for a while now. My mage has the quest. I can lure Catriona out of the room, but the gem itself isn't interactable so I can't take it.

Have done the usual removing addons, abandoning and retaking the quest etc, and the character isn't a Jewelcrafter so that quest isn't interfering either.
