Lay Waste, Lay Mines has awesome Trap rune, that can instantly kill enemies in the area

If you don't use coords, or just like a little extra info as you are doing this quest here's my nickle. The rune does not always work or at least it wasn't working on all the mobs when I did it. There is a rare that pats up and down the road where you need to go for the last item. It can be quite overwhelming when you have 15-20 of the mobs and the pat trying to kill you and the stone doesn't work so a word of warning if you aren't a plate wearer and don't have stuns.

The items are located as follows: Magical Manafest is in the open area library on a table outside near where you picked up the quest. The Anthology of the Guard is up the steps, on the landing, on a table. Continue up the steps, take a left and head to the building at the end of the path, passing the pat. The last item is a tablet, leaning up against the library shelves.

I basically just died in front of the item location and picked it up. Rezzed and repeated. There are 2 places where you can rez: One is on the lower landing about halfway up to where the items are. The other is closer to the Anthenaeum where the quest takes place.

This is one of the worst quests ever.
You have to run through packs of 10's of mobs, with a quest item that helps you untill you killed 50 of them. After that, its corpse run after corpse run... I am now waiting 2 minutes to rez for the last item...

Agree this is an awful chain of quests, with all the levels in these confusing ruins it is difficult to know where you are going by marks on the map, even loc coordinates. My suggestion, if you have the quest with the arcane trap, take the pain up front and run to the top to get that one first before you lose the trap. You might not die with its help. Better than it disappearing after you complete the quest. Reminds me of the quests where you free the people from cages, they fight by your side, aggro everything, then bugger off in the middle of a fight. They really could use someone offering repairs somewhere in this mess.

Relevant Locations:
The majority of this quest happens in the afterlife. There you'll be spending a lot of cooldown pondering how you managed to pull those enormous groups of mobs in, then, trying to find a nice or at least less nasty spawn spot for your next heroic last stand. And also rehearse your epic last words, as you attempt to inch closer to one of the confounded magical tomes:

From hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake, I spit my last breath at all thee bloody Nightborne Invaders.

This is a hateful quest if you no longer have the trap rune. You will die, a lot.

The best way I found to do it as a mage was to sneak in using invisibility, pop mirror images to distract the mobs surrounding the quest items and then nova them in place sufficiently far from the items to allow collection.

You're better off finding a group to be honest.

As a destro warlock, what I did was use my Infernal so it would aggro and deal damage to several mobs at a time, then try to collect the items hoping to not get interrupted. It's still a pain but it was the best way I could come up with; worked in the end, but Blizz really needs to fix the amount of mobs in the areas or make the arcane thingy usable throughout the quest line.

Very weird quest. So you're telling me heroes in the world of WoW do suicide missions by magically resurrecting themselves after running through swarms of hostile guards to collect items, only to die again and run back to their corpse? Interesting.
Anyway, I actually only died once as a BM hunter. There was not a single other soul in the area doing the same quest either. I never learned to prize feign death as much as I did during this quest. Switching to survival also wasn't that good, as you only have one minute to grab the item and find a place to hide and wait a minute for the cooldown before you can use camo again. Pure sh!@ show of a quest if you ask me. Maybe one of the devs was having a bad day, who knows.

This entire quest line is a steaming pile of horse manure.

it's a further example of Blizz's decision to merely stuff the quests full of mobs in an attempt to make them more "challenging". Instead, it just makes the quests frustrating and leaves me with no desire to do them more than once or twice, and skip them on alts.

Which in the end has the OPPOSITE effect from Blizz's intention, which presumably is to entice us to spend more time in-game - these types of over-mobbed quest just make me spend LESS time playing.

When looking for Aftermath of the Well don't make the mistake i did and check the lower cave where the quest giver is. It is not there.

It is on the upper level inside a room.
