So both of Moozy's parents have the last name of Waterwise but moozys mothers mother (so moozys grandmother) also has the last name Waterwise meaning either male tauren take of the last name of their wives or moozys parents were related before they got married aka keeping it in the family ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Don't misunderstand, this IS an escort quest - and a slightly annoying one at that. If you walk too fast/run then she'll complain that she can't keep up, if you get behind her, she'll complain that she can't see you. Take your time and enjoy the sights while escorting Grandma Waterwise to her grandkid :P

I experienced a bug with this quest, where Ethel Waterwise would only continue walking forward so long as I stood inside her house. I stood in the house until she was about halfway across the bridge, at which point she yelled at some scripted event, and I joined her for the remainder of the escort without issue.

So, if you're having a problem where she just stops when you follow her, try standing in her house.

You have slowly walk with Ethel Waterwise until she reaches Sella Waterwise. She walks slower than average and if you lost her, just go back to her place, or abandon the quest. She sticks where you leave her so it might be a bit hard to find if unoticed.

hm, most comments here suggest that you need to walk with Ethel, but I didn't do this. I was still doing the drum collection quest, so went off and finished that and then went to see Sella to hand in this quest and wondered why I couldn't complete it.. While I was reading comments on this page, Ethel strolled in and the quest completed, and I didn't escort her at all.

To do this quest - walk four paces in front of her (that's your maximum distance from her). Occasionally you will have to run back to her, and do it again.

She is VERY slow. She will bring PTSD of all escort quests you've ever done - just without annoying NPC mobs.

If you get too far from Ethel Waterwise, she stops. This range is literally like 8 meters, and you will outpace her mounted or even running. The best tactic is to walk. The default key is the slash key on your numpad.

Escort her to Sella Waterwise (/way 46.1, 54.6) inside The Hammer's Cradle, Thunder Totem.

If you can't return the quest and you don't know why, it's because you went too far and she stopped following you. You will have to abandon the quest, pick it up again from Stella, talk to her mother/grandmother and escort her to Stella. Slowly. Make a cup of tea first.

So I just did this quest and It trolled me ... I went and found the old hag and when I was escorting her across the bridge a dam big bird came and snatched her... I was like WTF! waited a min and was about to abandon quest when all of a sudden it said QUEST COMPLETE... I mean wtf :))! O well...

If, like me, you can see the quest ! on your map but can't find it, it turns out there's a whole ROOM inside of that round building. I know, right?

To get to the questgiver, run around to the southeast side of the building. Directly across from the path leading up into the mountains is the entrance. There's an innkeeper in there, too.

If you're like me and ignored the escort portion after talking to grandma, then you'll need to abandon the quest and pick it back up from Sella in the inn.

If you stay within five yards of her, she will not stop until you arrive at her destination. If you get more than five yards away, she will stop and yell at you and you will have to get back within five yards to get her moving again.

I am happy to think blizz made this quest to on purpose to tick off it's annoyingly impatient fanbase. little diversions like this amuse me because I can see blizzard's evil gears turning and imagine them laughing to themselves about the people getting frustrated with the quest.

To have access to this quest, you will need to complete:

Note that this quest starts on the upper level of Thunder Totem in Highmountain. Speak with Sella Waterwise to both begin and turn in this quest once completed. To reach Ethel Waterwise, proceed to the northeast bluff in Thunder Totem (there are two bridges by which you can reach this area). Speak with her, and she will begin following you. There are two things you must be mindful of when escorting her: (1) You must remain in front of her to get her to move, and (2) she will only move if you are within a certain range of her. Therefore, you will need to move in short bursts while remaining in front of Ethel. Bring her back to the location where the quest started (the center of the upper level of Thunder Totem) to complete the quest.

I dunno if this is a bug or not, but when I did this quest today on my third character she walked perfectly fine without me having to be nearby. I had alt-tabbed right after picking up the quest and when I came back to the game there she was halfway across the bridge. I tried alt-tabbing some more and she walked all the way to the inn by herself.

This is one of my favorite moments of the game because I thought it was going to be one of my least favorite.

It's completely trollish. You guide an elderly Tauren in an escort quest where you must RP walk and stay close enough to her so that you're clipping her model. It's as if you're literally helping her along by the shoulder. She walks all the way across an enormous bridge. A giant hostile bird dives in and she punches it off the bridge, just to show she's not actually feeble, before going back to walking excruciatingly slow. Then after making you walk all the way across the city, continually nagging you if you even slightly misstep out of range, she reaches her family...and sprints the last few feet to snatch her baby out of her hands.

And while I felt like I was being pranked, I also felt good. The game mechanics were razzing me, but the annoying old Tauren woman I guided back for no good reason (other than her being difficult) was reunited with her family, and the little group of them looking happy was touching. I hit Friendly with Highmountain then, and it felt like I'd been smoothly guided into immersion, into the sensation that I'd earned that friendship. That I had done a good deed in helping an insufferable old woman get to her family, even if only so her daughter didn't have to do it and listen to her complain the entire way there. That I'd actually gone through the process of helping her the whole way because the game mechanics demanded just enough out of me to be annoying without being difficult or excessive.

So gg blizz, This random gag quest whipped up in an afternoon with some spell effects and skillul scripting, this comedic aside at the player's expense, made me sentimental. Because it had just enough character to connect to the rest of the content around it, and there was enough content and flavor around it to make me give a damn.

She stopped dead for me right outside of the entrace to Thunder Totem and the delivery, and I thought the quest was bugged out.

If she stops there for anyone else, go behind her until she reacts and gives you one of her "WTF" messages, then walk towards and past her, and she should start walking again.

So you don't have to abandon and restart the quest.

Worked for me, hopefully it'll work for someone else, too.

Stay on her right side and in front of her by a step or two when her right arm is lifted. She'll move at a fairly quick pace and you can get through it in a couple minutes and not half an hour.

I'm not sure if this works for anyone else, but I ran a little bit ahead of her and then did a /wave to her, and she would then come in my direction. To be honest though, i didn't really try this strategy without waving, and there's no way i'm doing it again just to try it out.

I play many games which contain escort quests. Most of npc are slow. They may be slow a bit or so much slow. But this one...I remeber slow Thrall in BC instance and now I think he's really fast bro. But anyways, who else do this but we do.

This quest is NOT needed for the Highmountain questing meta achievement. Nor is it necessary for the pillar quest that is tied to this zone. I tested this myself by skipping it completely until I had acquired both of the aforementioned. So if those two things are all you care about (like me, on alts), feel free to skip.

I found that when walking I always outpace her. When mounting up and then press the walk-key, it would match her speed perfectly. It makes me soo much less want to jump off that bridge, since I never have to stop waiting for her every 5 seconds.

Just did this quest today again after a long while, and I´m pretty sure they changed her movement speed. Back then this quest was pure torture, but today I felt like she moved quite a bit faster. It´s still slow, but definitely not as slow as it was. I think it takes about a minute now to complete the whole walk, which is definitely doable.

A hidden easter egg on this quest. I've done this quest too many times to count on alts. This time was different. Before reaching the inn, there was a male blood elf standing next to someone else on a vendor mount, presumably selling off some junk. Ethel stops in her tracks, looking straight at Mr. Belf, his long, luxurious hair cascading down his shoulders. She says "What a nice young woman," then proceeding on her merry, slow as molasses way to reunite with her family. Now I wonder what happens if you have a long line of male belfs in her way...
