In order to reach Conjurer Margoss, you need to fish up Emblem of Margoss from Swirling Whorls fishing nodes in the Black Market of the sewers of Dalaran. They are consumed on use, so you will need to fish up another to return.

Below is a mini-guide on Drowned Mana - a combination of compiled information and research in the Beta.

Conjurer Margoss

Conjurer Margoss is a new Fishing-related NPC located on a floating island (Margoss' Retreat) around Dalaran. This island has a pool of water on it from which Drowned Mana can be fished up.

As a "Friend" NPC, there is an associated faction and reputation associated with Margoss - Conjurer Margoss (similar to Nat Pagle or the Tillers NPCs).

Getting to Margoss' Retreat

The island on which Conjurer Margoss can be found is just North of Dalaran. Note that this small island isn't shown on the map of Dalaran - it is outside of the bounds of the in-game map (therefore coordinates are not helpful!)

There are a number of ways to get to the island:

Flying
Once flying is unlocked in Legion, this will be an easy way to get to the island.
Emblem of Margoss
Emblem of Margoss is a consumable item that teleports you to Margoss' Retreat. It can be fished up in the Dalaran Underbelly from the Swirling Whorl pools around the Black Market Auction house - in the Underbelly.
These items are consumed when used - so to use this method again you have to fish up another.
Manually Reaching the Island
It is possible to get to the island using unconventional means.
First, you must jump down from Krasus landing to the left, onto the grassy ledge that surrounds Dalaran. Follow this ledge counterclockwise around the city edge until you see the island in the distance (distinctive due to the pool in the middle).
You'll see some trees blocking your vision, through which you can jump down onto a lower second tier grassy ledge. The point that you should be using to jump to the island is at .
Using a ground mount and jumping off the edge for momentum, you can get to the island using any ability that gives you some distance in the air. This can include any of the following:
- As a Demon Hunter, you can use Glide.
- As a Goblin Shaman, you can use Rocket Jump (Goblin Racial) followed by Gust of Wind (Talent).
- As an Engineer, you can use a cloak with Goblin Glider attached.
- Any race/class can use Goblin Glider Kit (crafted by Engineers).

You can get back to Dalaran by speaking to Conjurer Margoss - he will teleport you back on request.

Obtaining Drowned Mana

Drowned Mana has a two-fold purpose:

Can be turned in to Conjurer Margoss to obtain reputation with him.

Can be used as a currency for a number of items he sells.

Note that any Drowned Mana spent on items from Conjurer Margoss will not grant any reputation. Conversely, any Drowned Mana turned in for reputation is consumed and cannot be used to buy merchandise.

Drowned Mana can ONLY be fished up from the pool on Margoss' Retreat.

Notes

A Fishing skill of 1 is sufficient to catch Drowned Mana.
Fishing skill does not appear to appreciably affect Drowned Mana catch rate (see below).
You can catch up to 2 Drowned Mana per cast.
Other than Drowned Mana, only trash fish are caught on this island (Silver Mackerel and Big Fountain Goldfish).
Drowned Mana can be turned in 1 at a time for 50 reputation or 10 at a time for 500 reputation.
Drowned Mana is Unique (100) - as such you want to turn-in or spend it when you reach that mark.
Level 110 is NOT required to fish up Drowned Mana. Testing with level 100+ characters has been successful; it is unknown whether even lower level characters can do so.

Mark of Aquaos

Mark of Aquaos is an item you can rarely fish up on Margoss' Retreat (roughly 1 in every 100 casts). Using it will summon Aquaos the Unleashed, an Elemental that will attack you, that you must kill.

Aquaos the Unleashed scales in health and level (like all Legion mobs). It is not difficult to kill him.
Aquaos drops no loot, but killing him infuses the pool on the island with mana, increasing the catch rate of Drowned Mana to 100% while it is active for a short time! This state is indicated by blue mana motes rising from the surface of the water.
This "mana infusion" state lasts 2-3 minutes from testing.
Mark of Aquaos is Unique - as such, it is advisable to use it as soon as you catch one, to avoid not being able to loot any more you may catch.
While the buff is up, not only is Drowned Mana catch rate 100%, but you will somtimes catch various Legion (non-trash) fish, such as Stormray and Highmountain Salmon.

Fishing Tests

LOW FISHING SKILL: Fished from a skill of 19 to 119 (Total 100 casts)

Total yield: 28 Drowned Mana

6 casts yielded 1 Drowned Mana
11 casts yielded 2 Drowned Mana
Overall 17 casts yielded some Drowned Mana (17%)

HIGH FISHING SKILL: Fished at a skill of 904, with some Fishing gear and lure (Total 100 casts)

Total yield: 27 Drowned Mana

9 casts yielded 1 Drowned Mana
9 casts yielded 2 Drowned Mana
1 cast yielded a Mark of Aquaos
Overall 18 casts yielded some Drowned Mana (18%)

VERY HIGH FISHING SKILL: Fished from a skill of 1115 to 1152, with best possible Fishing gear and lure (Total 200 casts)

Total yield: 51 Drowned Mana

15 casts yielded 1 Drowned Mana
18 casts yielded 2 Drowned Mana
3 casts yielded a Mark of Aquaos
Overall 39 casts yielded some Drowned Mana (19.5%)

Overall this is a fairly low sample size; however, based on the information, it appears that Fishing skill has little to no effect on Drowned Mana catch rate. Further testing is needed to see if maxed fishing will yield different results.

Reputation with Conjurer Margoss

Reputation with Conjurer Margoss will allow you to purchase the various items he has for sale - including a pet and a mount!

There is a one-time quest (Drowned Mana) that you can complete by fishing up and turning in 1 Drowned Mana for 250 reputation. Thereafter, the only way to obtain further reputation is to turn in Drowned Mana for 50 reputation per mana.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It appears that the quest Drowned Mana consumes ALL Drowned Mana in your bags, not just the 1 required for completion! Therefore, it's best to fish up the 1 you need for the quest and turn it in before stockpiling more.

There are 5 levels of reputation before Best Friend, which is the maximum reputation. Each of these levels has 8400 reputation.

To improve the rate of reputation gain, keep in mind the following buffs (note that some of the following buffs stack):

WHEE!, available by riding the carousel during the Darkmoon Faire
Grim Visage/Unburdened, available during the Hallow's End Holiday Event
The Spirit of Sharing, available during the Pilgrim's Bounty Holiday Event
Diplomacy, one of the human racial abilities

Spending Drowned Mana

Conjurer Margoss sells a number of items for Drowned Mana, as below:

Sting Ray Pup	Good Friend	50	Battle Pet. Aquatic. Adds the Battle Pet Sting Ray Pup to your collection.
Brinedeep Bottom-Feeder	Best Friend	100	Mount. Can be used only in water.

Here are some numbers for total Drowned Mana required for certain items (includes reputation turn-ins and currency requirement):

Sting Ray Pup - 717 Drowned Mana required
Brinedeep Bottom-Feeder - 935 Drowned Mana required
Sting Ray Pup + Brinedeep Bottom-Feeder - 985 Drowned Mana required

Beware! Turning in this quest will remove ALL Drowned Mana you have in your bags even though he only asks for one. Make sure to complete the quest as soon as you fish one up, if you keep fishing and turn it in later you will lose all of them.

Update! This issue has now been resolved.

I cannot do this quest for the life of me. Every time I click on my bobber, I get 'Your fish got away!' This happened for at least an hour. Thought I was just SUPER unlucky. Figured maybe since I'm fishing level 1, I'll go elsewhere, catch some fish and come back. Fished up to level 5, came back and same thing. I've relogged, restarted the client, to no avail. I've looked everywhere online and can't find anything about a bug or how to fix this.
Help. :(
I really want to grind for the mount.

As a mage, you can jump off the edge of Dalaran and slow fall to the island.

It IS do-able in 1 day to get the mount, bobbers, and pets. I went from late Stranger to Best Friend in 1 day AND got all the items from him. Sure, it took 7-8 hours of non-stop fishing, almost 2.5k cast times, and my sanity, but 100% worth it! :D

Let me start by saying that two days ago I did not even know this Broken Shore exsisted...I was fishing for Daggermaws in Darkmoon when I noticed all the bobbers and had to look up how to get them...then I had to look up how to get there...so you go to the sewers in new Dalaran and fish the glowing pools for a stone which you use to teleport to Broken Shore...small place - can't really go wrong...stop and do the only quest which simply shows you what the area is about...you fish for drowned mana...my first few casts rewarded the case of worms - crate of cat heads - crate of wooden Pepe...after that I spent the rest of the day going from stranger to pal...I fished only two Mark of Aquaos...the Mark is tossed back into the water which awakens the water guy who fights you til death increasing the amount of fishable mana for two minutes...so today I went at this place head first...someone suggested making a raiding group (which I have never done in my history of playing the game) and I dared to take a chance and do it...WHAT A DIFFERENCE...8 hours was all I needed to go from Pal to Best Friend as well as purchase the items sold by Margoss - one mount - two pets - two toys and the three little items I will never need now...the group was the way to go...I never had less than 5 others in the group at any one time during the 8 hours and when I left there were still a group around the lake...If you are going to do this use the group finder for a raid party...very productive day

I don't know what they did to fishing, but I've cast my line in 20 times and 18 times the "fish got away." I'm NOT that bad at fishing. Who is? It doesn't take an android with lightening speed reflexes to hear the fish hit the line and click the right mouse button. Hell, you can even put down your cup of coffee and click the button and still catch your fish normally. Not here on Margoss's Retreat apparently. I can click it as soon as the bobber jumps and the splash is heard, I can wait half a second, I can wait a full second, and 18 times out of 20 the fish got away. I've sent at least a dozen alts through Margoss's Retreat with no problem what so ever. The last time was about a year ago. I made a new alt, got it up to 110 and thought, fishing, I should do the fishing thing. Maybe it's Demon Hunters just can't fish, I don't know. But 20 attempts with 2 Big Fountain Goldfish to show for it. . . just ain't worth it.

NPC Conjurer Margoss is selling Mount, Toys and Pets. To get them you need to increase reputation with him - for increasing reputation we need Drowned Mana with you can fished up on small island North West from Dalaran behind Tournament Announcer.

1. Basic information

Your fishing skill to catch Drowned Mana can be 1-800.
Catch rate with out boost is very low. With Boost is 100% 1-2 on each catch.
During fishing you have a chance to get Mark of Aquaos - is a boost ( throw it in to the water that will summon Aquaos the Unleashed Kill him and get boost).
Maximum stack of Drowned Mana in your bag is 100 you will not catch more, you need to spend them for items or reputation to catch more.
You don't need to have 110 lvl to start
You can increase your reputation getting using buffs for it

2. How to get to island - is 4 ways to get there:

A - Use Emblem of Margoss You can fished up it in The Underbelly Next to The Widow.
B - Fly using Mount if you have unlocked flying in Legion ( You need to have done achi : Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part Two).
C - Use class skill to jump on it like i use Levitate on my priest.
D - You can be Summoned by Warlock.

3. Whey of Fishing:

A - Raid group - Best way to get quick to finish. Why ? more people more chance to get Mark of Aquaos
B - Solo - slow and boring way go with this when you have no others way to waste your time

4. Reputation table with NPC Conjurer Margoss.
Drowned Mana finish this Quest to get 250 reputation.
Drowned Mana x1 = 50 reputation with out any buff.
Drowned Mana x10 = 500 reputation with out any buff.

Don't wast your Drowned Mana for Arcane Lure, Murloc Bobber, Squeaky Duck Bobber you don't need to but it if you want to finish it fast even buff is not changing any thing.

And last calculation: If you want to have all Toys, Pets and Mount you need to catch: 1240 Drowned Mana.

6. Summary

Don't wast your time to fishing in Solo go find raid group minimum over 10 people are boosting you 1000%.
