I was checking to see how much exp would be lost if you skipped the introductory quests in Legion. In Warlords of Draenor, I was never bothered by doing the Tanaan introductory scenario because it was easily half a level and the quests were relatively quick and painless. (30-60m max)

In Legion, after you complete the introduction once, you can subsequently skip it, but I wanted to see how much exp was lost.

Quests 1-5 don't even give experience and the introduction took me roughly 45 minutes with the beta bugs and knowing exactly what to do. At this time, I'd recommend skipping on subsequent characters based on exp/hour.

As a note, it appears that these quests don't even reward experience, so I'm not sure if that's a bug or not.

2) To Be Prepared (I believe you can turn this in and still skip.)
3) The Battle for Broken Shore (Forced into a group for a scenario minimal exp -- 20-30 minute scenario)
4) Fate of the Horde
5) Emissary
6) Demons Among Us (group kill exp, if swarmed) (15k exp)
7) Keep Your Friends Close (3750 exp)
8) In the Blink of an Eye (You skip to the turn in of this quest)

This quest is not available yet with the pre-patch launch. It will become available when the Demon Invasions start.

Short Version: Go visit Holgar Stormaxe in front of Orgrimmar at 46,18.31

Longer Version When you log in at level 100 you will immediately be presented with this quest, whether you are in Orgrimmar or your garrison. You will be given a 1-time "hearth stone" that will transport you to Orgrimmar. You can either use that, or make your way there on your own.

The Orc, Holgar Stormaxe is sitting on his wolf mount outside of the gates into Orgrimmar, and every few seconds level-100 NPCs comes running out and salute this level 30 veteran. (For those who never noticed, this level 30 orc was standing silently outside the gate, watching players duel with his one good eye, with his axe in his strong right arm.)

Now, mounted, he is ready to speak to you, flanked by a pair of grunts, as different Horde races run out from the gates behind him, pause to salute him, and head to the port.

I just submitted a screen shot (pending approval) of what the dock should look like when you are on the quest, verse the normal look. I also marked on it where the two Vendor NPCs are.

To have this quest, you must be level 98 or higher, and must NOT be a Demon Hunter. If you are 98 and have not been prompted for the quest yet, try relogging.

Once you complete the quest line, you will NOT be able to see the vendors anymore.

I used my level 100 character boost on a Blood elf warrior. it seems that after the demon invasion you are no longer start game from your garrison. instead I started my game on a ship doing a tutorial of my abilities on a dummy, then I was sent to the Broken shore scenario. so I kinda skipped the first two quest of the chain (also I didn't got the blue ring; mark of Orgrimmar as a reward).

I am having this problem on 2 different computers with 2 different accounts, our Demon Hunters are unable to recieve this quest and the Orgrimmar Portal Stone associated with it

If you abandon the quest, the fastest way to pick it up again is to log out and log in again.
It is not sufficient to simply /reloadui

UNABLE TO START THE LEGION QUESTLINE? Khadgar's Upgraded Servant Bugged? Dropped the quest and can't get it back? **Solved!**

There is an NPC for each faction:
Horde: Holgar Stormaxe
Alliance: Recruiter Lee *See edit at bottom*
that will get you where you need to go.

Simply interact with them and select this dialog option , accept the confirmation pop-up . You will be given the quest In the Blink of an Eye and teleported directly to New Dalaran where you can start your Artifact Quest and thus the Expansion. Win!

I have been looking all over for information on this issue and there has been little to be found anywhere, so I thought i'd post here in hopes that it saves other adventurers some time that ought be spent playing!

If you decide to "skip" the follow-up quest when you get to Holgar Stormaxe in front of Orgrimmar, and then get ported to Dalaran, and then you decide you'd like to actually do the questline, go visit Archivist Elysiana who is just inside the Violet Citadel, to the left. She will allow you to "re-start" the Legion invasion questline again, giving you The Legion Returns quest once again.

The end of this questline unlocks the Illidari Camp in Stormwind, along with the Captive Wyrmtongue where you can still trade in Nethershards.

If you accidentally skip this quest on an alt that has Nethershards you want to spend, you can re-acquire the quest from Archivist Elysiana in Dalaran, The Violet Hold.

If you dont get the quest when you ding 98, just relog and it will pop up.

I just had this quest pop up for me on a character I haven't played recently.

That character is 110, currently in the Broken Shore, with 100% completion of every Zone story line, fully completed Artifacts and Class Hall, and with the quest to go to Argus sitting in their quest log.

Something obviously got reset at some point between the last time I logged in on this character and now.

I've been holding onto this quest on my Druid alt for like a year, because the quest item is an Orgrimmar teleport with no cooldown and I don't want to give it back.

I have boosted a new character and did not get this quest or the Dalaran hearthstone. But i found out that you can access the broken isles by using the portal to Azsuna from Orgrimmar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB79tTgbikw

Wowhead currently indicates that the Orgrimmar Portal Stone is a "Reward from" the quest Legion: The Legion Returns. It is NOT a reward, it is a quest item and as of July 2019 it will STILL disappear if you turn in the quest. I tried this on a mage (who can port to Org already) to see if something has changed in the past 3 years, and the stone disappeared after turning in the quest.

If you have already completed the Legion introductory questline on one toon, you can keep the stone on another toon: go to Holgar Stormaxe and instead of turning in the quest, choose "I've heard this tale before... <Skip the Legion introductory quests and start your journey in Dalaran.>"

The stone has a cooldown of 2 hours and will take you to the Cleft of Shadow, rather than to the new portal room beneath the gates of Org.

As of BFA this quest is on auto-accept on reaching level 100. If you've newly dinged 100 from a quest and don't get it - relog, or reload the game and it should pop up :) Wowhead states lvl 98. but I didn't get it recently despite logging out between lvl 98 and lvl 100. It may be possible that a lvl 2 Garrison is required, since I established my lvl 2 Garrison at lvl 100, and obtained this quest when I relogged.

This is the Horde version of the quest leading into Legion content. It is the same quest as it always was, just for the Shadowlands pre-patch it is offered up by Chromie, should you opt not to continue your adventure into BFA content after reaching level 10 if you choose starters island. Not sure if you still get directed to BFA content at level 10 if you choose your racial starter zone.

In any case, this quest is a lead in to Legion content, and provides you with a temporary hearthstone to Orgrimmar which is removed on completion of the quest.

Can no longer skip the intro quests in Shadowlands Prepatch for some reason when using Chromie's Timewalking.

9.2 Edit: Seems they fixed it now, but back in 9.0 and 9.1 you actually had to do the first quest for horde, run all the way down to the docks to turn it in, then run all the way back to skip. But now you can just skip immediately like you used to.

You can still skip the intro scenario, but only after completing the next quest: To Be Prepared

After you've received the ring, simply talk to Mr. Stormaxe again to skip the scenario.

To skip the scenario in Shadowlands Pre-Patch follow these steps:
Complete The Legion Returns
Accept The Battle for Broken Shore but DO NOT board the ship.
Go back to Holgar Stormaxe and the skip should now be a dialogue option if you have completed it prior on at least one other character.

I had some problems with finding this quest and I figured out some stuff which might be interesting to other people who are in the same situation.

I was levelling a Shaman using Chromie time and I levelled in Pandaria, meaning I didn't go to Legion at all. I wanted to get the Dalaran Hearthstone, but I couldn't figure out where to get the quest from this guy. People said you could get it at a Command Board, but I didn't find a Legion starting quest, even after flooding my quest log with random quests.

This is how you do it. Go to Orgrimmar and find Holgar Stormaxe at the entrance of Orgrimmar and accept his quest. Do the first initial quest outside Orgrimmar and after that, you queue for a Battle for Broken Shore scenario. If you want to skip this scenario, you simply just leave the scenario right when you get in it, and it should port you to Dalaran and give you your Hearthstone. This worked for me anyway, and I hope it will help others.

If you cant seem to find the quest, go talk to Chromie in Orgimmar, and select a timeline and choose The Legion Invasion and this questline will pop up. Hopefully this helps those who are having any issues like me.

If you can't see this quest anywhere, check if you have selected a specific timeline with Chromie. Then you might need to talk to her to get back to current timeline.

Dragonflight 2023

For Alliance: Fastest way to phase Recruiter Lee is NOT to do a bunch of old quest chains for other xpacs that take you elsewhere then back. Instead, go straight to Chromie at /way 46.3 17.35 and politely ask her to Select a Different Timeline, and select The Legion Invasion. She will then immediately give you the quest Legion: The Legion Returns and you'll be on your way! Recruiter Lee is then located at /way 37 43 at Stormwind Harbor.

For Horde: Same principle works for Horde players to unlock the portal in the portal room in Orgrimmar. First find Chromie to the left of the Org Embassy. She's tiny and standing behind the bonfire near the tents to the front left of the Embassy doors at /way 41 80 after which you'll receive Legion: The Legion Returns which happens in both Org and main Durotar. You'll meet up with Holgar Stormaxe at /way 46 14 which is in the zone just outside Org's southern gates.

Both sides will be offered the option, "I've heard this tale before... <Skip the Legion introductory quests and begin your Journey in Dalaran", and given the next quest To Be Prepared(A) / (H) To Be Prepared. Enjoy your journey to New Dalaran in the Broken Isles!

NOTE: For collectors, I'd avoid skipping the intro because there are a few items that are purchasable ONLY during this new phasing of the quest from quest-only "vendors". Once you skip the chain you'll have to re-do the chain on your alts.
