You'll see various Augari ghosts around the area of the Conservatory. Target them and use Y'mera's Attuning Crystal to attune it to them. Some will become hostile but killing them will still give credit.

Only one ghost per person, unfortunately. So you may have to hunt around the area a bit.

The ghosts you use the item on are named:

'Resonating Augari Novitiate'

They should also have the yellow/white outline on them if you have that setting turned on.

Copy this to make an efficient macro. Keep in mind, you need to be in range to use the crystal.

The NPC is located at 63.06, 39.95; however, the actual quest task is located at the loot icon/ 63.47. There you can you use the attuning crystal in your bag on the draenei, Only targets with highlighted yellow light can be selected. There were several people in the area at the time I did the quest many targets were already tapped. You may have to wander around the quadrant.

Here is a macro to target and mark these ghosts with a skull. This is convenient because since after running the macro all you have to do is get within range and click on them with Y'mera's Attuning Crystal.

/cleartarget
/tar Resonating Augari Novitiate
/run SetRaidTarget("target", 8);

I got it from someone's comment on the "Aw, Nuts!" quest but this sequence can work for other NPCs. Just change the target name.
btw: Squirrels in "Nuts" can be targeted by using the name "Invasive Squirrel"

You can channel the crystal from stealth (i tried on druid, it worked very well)
But...if the NPC becomes hostile...the stealth mode is gone, so be careful with your positioning.

If you move outside this world quest area, like I did when I saw Augari Secret Stash to the south, you may lose your Y'mera's Attuning Crystal when you lose the quest.
Talk to Archmage Y'mera and she will give you another Y'mera's Attuning Crystal.

If you're having problem with Y'mera not showing up at the teleport pad where she's supposed to be, teleport to another pad and back again.

Another poorly designed quest in Legion. I've lost count at this point. Wasted 20 minutes running around trying to find Y'mera just to have to come OUTSIDE OF THE GAME AGAIN to find out quest information. Looks like this quest is bugged and giving players issues with Y'mera not showing up.

Wow. It's hard to imagine how you could make this quest any more annoying, even on purpose. First off, Y'mera isn't near the WC marker on your map. Start at the Conservatory of the Arcane teleporter. Y'mera is there, not at the map marker. If she's not, use the teleporter to go anywhere and then port right back and she should be there. You might have to try more than once. Whenever she appears, talk to her and she'll give you a crystal. Then go to the area marked on your map and look for Resonating Augari Noviates. They'll be the sparkly ones, not the regular novitiates. Use the crystal on them. Probably 9 out of the 10 will go hostile on you, as will everything within 30 yards while you're trying to cast the crystal spell. I hope this helps.

I have noticed that with some of these WQ, you don't get the item you need. This is one of the ones that it happened to me on. I couldn't use the stone and could only stand around waiting for others to kill the mobs before I got credit.

The Resonating Auguri are now highlighted so you can't miss them. They also respawn within about thirty seconds, so you can pick a group of three and just keep rotating, which is about all you'll get access to if there are a lot of other players doing the WQ. One of the Auguri who turned hostile transformed into one of the giant, elite constructs, or called one from nearby. That was interesting. Fortunately the Lightforged Warframe swatted him like an annoying fly. Just be prepared.

The crystal will randomly disappear and then you cannot complete this pos wq.

I found that the best place to farm this World Quest is at the Conservatory, around the fountain at 63, 50. There are about 5-7 Augari Ghosts around this area which have rougly 1 min respawn rate. I've tested this on severeal characters and it's about a 40% chance that the ghost will attack you after channeling the Crystal.

How to make this quest less annoying:

1> Use the conservatory porter. Y'mera is right there. (as others have said)
2> Don't leave the area. If you do, you will lose your crystal and Y'mera will despawn. You have to relog to get her to reappear. (reloading the console is not enough.)
3> Form a group. You get credit for your group mates Resonating Augari Novitiates.
4> When/if they turn red, they're tag to faction. Tag them, you get credit.

Place is very buggy. Shows where she is supposed to be, but ... she gives you a crystal to use to collect ANCIENT AUGARI ESSENCE. Sometimes they turn on you, sometimes they just sit there in a daze staring off into the distance, or you get mobs of spawns and so have to deal with them before extracting the ANCIENT AUGARI ESSENCE. Very dumb WQ to be honest. BTW, the drops in MacAree are bad, no Lightweave Cloth or extras, I don't know if that is normal or not just lingering essences.

Note that if someone of the opposite faction happens to tag a ghost that turns hostile after you channel them, you cannot gain any credit from it and will likely be left having to deal with it anyway. Watch out for jerks running around just tagging everything.

SOME KIND OF BUG: For some reason, the Attuning Crystal kept disappearing from my bag, and though I still had the quest, the crystal icon wasn't next to the quest on my quest list. I went back to Y'mera once, and was able to abandon and get the quest again, but the next time it happened, I didn't see her in the same place and I was afraid to abandon. I finally started selecting the Augari Ghost that someone else on the quest was targeting. If that ghost turned red (hostile), I hit them also, and was able to get the credit for that ghost, even if the other player was Horde! (I'm Alliance). I'm not sure whether that other player got credit too, but I can tell you that I did this repeatedly to a Horde player who was on the same quest, and he kept sending me "a rude gesture"! :) That eventually made me wonder if he was not getting credit. You do have to target the ghost before it turns red, and if it doesn't turn red, you won't get credit. I'm not sure if it's necessary for you to hit the target when it turns hostile.

Not one of Blizz's best tbh. Q giver sometimes does not show, so you need to log out & in again! This is also a prime example of why faction specific realms would be a good idea for non-pvp players. It can be hugely frustrating to complete this Q as players from opposing faction who target the required ghosts before you do, 'steal' the credit & the ghost de-spawns. This also happens with players from your own faction but that is less annoying. You can form a group to make this easier, but for the usually meagre rewards it's frankly not worth the hassle. Oh, & don't move out of the Q zone or the crystal will disappear & you'll have to start from Q giver (if she's there) again.

Interesting tidbit, the Novitiates and Wakeners are humanoids, the more powerful summoners and the target "Resonating Augari Summoners" are actually demons.
