The Runeforging skill is only available to a Death Knight. Here is some information on how/where it works:

Runeforging is only usable at a Runeforge. There are 3 of these located inside Plaguelands: The Scarlet Enclave, on the top floor.
Plaguelands: The Scarlet Enclave is the starting zone for the Death Knight class. It is accessible by flying or the Death Knight-only spell, Death Gate.
1. This spell will port you to the bottom floor of the enclave.
2. From there you can either fly (via mount) to the top floor OR use the pink, portal pad in the vicinity.
These Runeforges appear as large, skull "statues" with blue, glowing, open mouths and a small forge within.
Runeforging has benefits for each Death Knight class-specialization (Blood, Frost, Unholy) by enhancing Death Knight abilities.
Runeforging replaces the need for any weapons enchants from the Enchanting profession.
Unlike Enchanting, however, Runeforging can only be used on your personal, Death Knight weapons.
To use, your Death Knight must:
1. Stand by the Runeforge.
2. Open your Runeforging skill (accessible from your Spellbook).
3. Open your character window. Default keybind "C".
4. Select the enhancement you would like.
5. Click the red, "Engrave" button at the bottom.
6. Select the weapon on which you wish to place the enhancement.
7. If you Dual Wield: repeat steps 4-6 for your other weapon.
  The same or different enchants can be used.

Have we been reduced to 3 "patterns" for rune-forging or am i missing something?

It might not work for everyone, but if you are missing the Runeforging spell, maybe try switching spec. It may solve the bug!

I miss Rune of Cinderglacier. It was my favorite since WotLK and it looked so cool :c

For some weird reason, i only have Rune of Razorice in my runeforging...do i need to talk to someone to learn the other two? im in Unholy, so having a Frost enchantment is basicly useless to me...where do i gotta go to get the others?

So, now that we are reduced to three runeforging patterns, the question comes to mind; is it still worth using rune forging or would I be better off getting an enchantment?

For Blood:
In most content, use Rune of the Fallen Crusader. Rune of the Fallen Crusader is very strong defensively, despite being intended for use by Frost and Unholy. The heal from the proc will account for a significant amount of self-healing over an encounter, and the 15% Strength translates into both armor and parry chance.
Rune of the Stoneskin Gargoyle is a viable option if the content you are tanking has a significant chance of doing lethal spike damage over a few seconds.

For Frost:
Main-hand Weapon Rune of Razorice
Off-hand Weapon Rune of the Fallen Crusader

For Unholy:
Weapon Rune of the Fallen Crusader

There's a whole bunch of new runeforge abilities as of the Shadowlands pre-patch, so there's a bigger variety of choice, depending on your play-style.

Figured I'd go ahead and list them, and provide insight on when best to use them:

New information has come to light regarding some of these runeforges, noted at the bottom with corresponding note tags.

All:
Hystera Good crutch for low haste builds, or band-aid for haste starvation.
Sanguination Suitable* for PVP content vs melee, possibly Mythic+
Spellwarding Suitable for PVP content vs casters, possibly Mythic+

Blood:
Stoneskin GargoyleThis is the go-to runeforge for Blood DKs
Unending Thirst Viable leveling runeforge.

Frost:
Razor Ice Frost: This is the go-to runeforge for maxed Frost DKs
Unending Thirst Viable leveling runeforge for off-hand.
Apocalypse Viable leveling runeforge for off-hand.

Unholy:
Fallen Crusader This is the go-to runeforge for Unholy DKs
Apocalypse Alternative go-to runeforge for Unholy Dks (see notes below)

*Sanguination now has a 5min debuff after the heal has been granted. This means you can must wait out the time before the heal can apply again, but it does not affect the damage increase as your target's health increases.

**Apocalypse now appears to almost always proc one of the four possible debuffs:

War - increases damage taken by the death knight's attacks by 1%
Famine - reduces damage dealt to the death knight by 2%
Death - reduces healing by 1%
Pestilence -Slows the target by 30% and inflicts a damage over time debuff.

These debuffs all last for 6 seconds, and the damage of Pestilence is likely based on your character's level and current stats, rather than a set amount of damage for your character's level

Additionally, these debuffs can stack with one another on your target, so having multiple debuffs active is a possibility - including multiple stacks of the same debuff. I have seen at least Pestilence, War and Death stack multiple times. The highest multiple of a single debuff I have seen was War at 3% (3 stacks) and the highest number of total stacks has been 4. The average appears to be 2-3 on the target. This makes Apocalypse on a par with Fallen Crusader as a max level Unholy DK.

Sure would have been nice if they added more runeforge locations that non-necrolord DKs could use in SL. Really a pain to have to use Death Gate. I know it's a small gripe, but why give it to one covenant and not any other?
