Once you purchase these with the badges you obtain, you can use it and then send it to another character on the same server on your account. Once they're done with it, they can send it off to another. The item will automatically scale based on the level of the character that has it.

How does it work with enchanting? Say I put a spellpower +50 enchant on it and then send it to a lvl 20 alt, what happens?

Found the answer for those who are interested: these items can only be enchanted with lvl 1 enchants. To bad, but understandable.

IF some of u guys are like em and dream or own a twink 39 shaman elemental then here's some tips.

Shurely u have asked yourself wat is better? The Staff of Jordan ( 22 dmg +40 spelldmg enchant )

OR this lovely mace with the Green tower shield against those pesky rogues .....but with 30 spelldmg enchant.

for a 39 the spelldmg wyoud be aproximately 60 to 64 if my calculations are correct ( as my shaman is not yet 39 )

so 60+30= 90 spelldmg vs 62 from staff of jordan.

all in all this is much better for both dmg and protection. ( excuse my grammar)

Does anyone know if the enchants will be scaled down if it's applied by a level 80 character and then passed on to the Level 1 char?

For example, will Enchant Weapon - Exceptional Spellpower work as intended or will it not take effect due to level requirement, or will it be scaled down?

This item scales very poorly, at level 28 it is only 4 spell power which really isn't any better than an uncommon weapon you could find off the AH. This is a complete waste of badges at this point.

Blizzard needs to reduce the melee dps rating(useless for casters) of this item at lower levels to get more spell power onto it.

Well if for lvl 80 spellpower is 50. ( for shoulders i mean) then may i mention my shaman lvl 31 atm has 7 spellpower. .. dmg from mace is about 6 times grater than shoulder.

So how can you say that for this mace with 343, the spelldmg is still 7 at your lvl 48 ?
shuerly for my 31 shaman this mace shoud be 6 times more spelldmg. .. like 40 or so ..

It seems the weapon damage scales as intended every level, but spell damage and stats may take a few levels to actually show an increase, this is likely due to item budget.

Regarding scaling. Poor scaling stops at 57. Might be a bit off on my numbers but on lvl57 it was 8 spellpower and on 58 it suddenly jumped to 42 or something. After that point its getting about 6-8 spellpower/level, at 64 its 80 or something.

Just tried to apply +40 spell power as i am 36 lvl atm.It say's "Item lvl too low" :( .Cretorious is fully right about this.The best ench you can put is +30 spell power.Don't repeat my mistake.

I just used all my recruit a friend granted levels to grant a shaman to 58 and I transfered over this weapon to my elemental shaman. It is totally awesome, I enchanted it with 30 spell power and let me tell ya its totally sick.

TOTALLY WORTH THE GRIND!

I got 2 bloodied arcanite rippers btw on my 60 Fury warrior :D (also totally awesome) TITANGRIP FTW

There is a distinct lack of suitable weapons for an enhancement shaman in the heirloom selection. The dagger might not be bad, though.

Anyway, because this weapon is treated like a standard Vanilla-WoW melee weapon with some spell stats on it until 58, when it becomes a Burning Crusade itemized caster weapon, this isn't entirely terrible if you're going to need a good main hand for your shaman. It's slow, and scales like a basic melee up to that point.

Example:
Claw of Celebras (Req. Level 46): 34.4 DPS
Devout Aurastone Hammer @ Level 49: 35.0 DPS

So, if you really hate having to keep up on your MH weapon for an entire 15-20 levels, this isn't a bad one to sit on until you start picking up Burning Crusade weapons. At 58, this weapon sharply falls off as remotely viable for enhancement because it starts converting weapon damage into spell stats. At that point, however, it becomes rock solid for Elemental or Restoration, and you can hang on to it anyway! In the meantime you can pick up the many decent Hellfire melee rewards.

While I personally won't be spending the badges on this for that particular purpose, don't neglect it. It would also be suitable for paladins leveling protection. Rogues and Warriors will find it utterly useless though because of the MP5/SP/Int.

actually i looked forward to these heirlooms cuz they were ; BoA and i wanted 2 stop on my main server so i thought : perfect! can i send loads nice items to my alts on the other server to bad its an other server and the faction is not the same... till i saw you sent it by main and you cant send mail to other realms and other factions of course i realized that these things arent that special... it takes longer then farming weaps and gear in ins ever 5 lvls for all your alts or getting these things... well i say : Blizz make stats better and let them be send to other realms :)

Just to point out, in 3.1, they've upped the damage significantly on this item for lower level characters. My 44 priests, went from +6 Spell Power, to +35 Spell Power.

So, for those who disliked this item because it didn't do much before, check this out again ^^

Well, I bought this a while ago for my priest(and regret it. x.x) but decided against playing him. I xferred it over to a rogue and was wondering whether or not it would still be a good MH for combat. Not for the int/mp5/SP, but DPS and stamina?

I'd rather not save up another 40 emblems(using them for main's gear). Would the DPS still scale the same as the dagger or sword until 58? It seems like a pretty crap end of the stick deal for my lowby rogue, but the DPS is still higher than anything at his level(he's level 3 at the moment, and it's got 7 DPS just like the sword and dagger would.)

Edit: I put lifestealing on it and I've been nearly one hitting mobs (I'm level 5 now) with the mace. It seems pretty viable until I do enough heroics to replace it.

Seeing as there aren't any Heirloom offhands, from PvP OR PvE as far as I know, does that mean that the staff would be better for leveling a caster?

I'm kind of a fan of onehand/offhand combos for casters, but this just seems to lack the raw power of the staff without an offhand that doesn't need to be replaced often.

For a 29 healer, this is an upgrade over the previous best-in-slot, Skullbreaker.

How big of an upgrade depends on whether you enchanted Skullbreaker with Major Healing before the Spellpower merge. Weapons enchanted with Major Healing before the change, now have 43 spellpower, whereas if you do it today, it's 40 spellpower (the same as Major Spellpower). No idea if this will get fixed at some point, but right now it's true.

You can't use high-level enchants on heirloom weapons as a twink, because the effects of the enchant won't work on your character, but you can use pre-BC enchants. It's also notable that you can't put ANY weapon oils on heirloom weapons, because it appears that all oils have some level requirement that is greater than 1. This was a disappointment as it makes the heirloom weapons not nearly as much of an upgrade as I thought they would be for my 29 pally.

Skullbreaker + Major Spellpower (or Healing done after changes) + Minor Wizard Oil:
3 stam
5 int
0 mp5
48 spellpower

Skullbreaker + Major Healing (done before changes) + Minor Wizard Oil:
3 stam
5 int
0 mp5
51 spellpower

Devout Aurastone Hammer + Spell Power (from Molten Core):
4 stam

Strangely, Healing Power from Molten Core only gives 29 spellpower instead of 30, so avoid that if you can.

The Blessed Hammer of Grace has the same stats as Devout Aurastone Hammer, except that it has 5 resilience and 0 int.

Worth noting that at level 19 bracket, also has a hidden mp5 on it! When i equip it i go from 17 to 18mp5. So for those of you who are twinks deciding between this and the one from wintergrasp marks, I'd say that settles it. Although with changes to mp5 in 3.2, who knows what we'll see.

The tooltip in wowhead is wrong. It is not 7 MP5 at level 80 but 37 MP5.

Edit : well, apparently the armory is (or was if they fixed it) wrong and wowhead is right as a guy at quickarmory told me. In game, it does show 7MP5 and not a whopping 37 MP5. I had assumed the armory was reliable but obviously it is not.

i really want get a druid lvl 80 befor cataclysm and i only have limited time on wow, im going to the shoulders and chest piece but im kinda sitting on fence for spending more time get embelms so i just need to no will a boa wep help me lvl or should i just use drops because of the new dungeon finder

This weapon is only good for leveling Paladins as Holy.

All other casters would prefer to level with the heirloom staff most of the time. As of Cataclysm, the staff is comparable in power to a similar-level mace+offhand combo at many points between 1 and 80. The problem is keeping the offhand item up to date due to the lack of an heirloom offhand; there are certainly some offhands along the way, but it's a hassle you won't have to deal with using the staff. One less distraction from leveling.

Holy Paladins aren't so lucky. A Holy Paladin is the only caster in the game that cannot use a staff, and therefore is forced to use this mace (or, less ideally, the resilience equivalent) to heal at low levels.

The two non-caster specs that qualify to use this are Protection Paladins and Enhancement Shaman, and neither wants it. Protection Paladins would prefer the heirloom tank sword for all purposes because of its Strength. Enhancement Shaman prefer the slower speed of the 1h mace.

Therefore, only Holy Paladins should buy this mace.

Note that this mace costs 2,725 JP. Every other heirloom 1h weapon costs 2,175 JP. This is likely because all of the other 1h weapons are intended for dual-wield classes, some of whom can or are forced to pay for two heirloom weapons to maximize DPS, whereas Holy Paladins can't spend JP on their offhand slot. Therefore, their main hand slot should cost a little more to account for this economic disparity.

Why on earth has the cost of heirlooms skyrocketed in patch 4.0.1? They used to cost a large number of Emblems of Heroism which took a while to amass any excess of other badges to convert. Now with only a month or so to go before Cata release when people have little to do other than level alts, they suddenly cost at least 4x more than before!

The justification given is that at 85 we will miraculously be earning so many points that level 80 items become supercheap. Except I fail to see what possible justification or relevance this has to a level 80 trying to purchase level 80 items who does not own the Cataclysm expansion and furthermore Cataclysm is still many weeks away from release!

Its even more unfair to those who had been stockpiling badges to use for heirlooms and were just short of them before purchase.

Two heirloom weapons which can only benefit those at or below level 80 basically cost the same as THREE level 80 T10+ raid pieces now!

The cost listed for this item in the database is inaccurate. When I looked it up, I saw to my surprise that it was listed at 560 Justice Points. However, when I rushed to buy it thinking that the rolling restarts for this week had reduced the price, I was disappointed to find the price unchanged.

When the Justice Points system was implemented, the price of this item was set at 2725 Justice Points. I believe this to be very unfair, as other posters have mentioned. You used to be able to farm 65 badges of heroism to buy this item, that definitely is not equivalent to 2725 Justice. I can buy 3 pieces of teir10 gear for this amount of points. I hope the price is nerfed in future patches, or the items benefits changed to match the higher cost. Right now, the items definitely aren't worth the 40-50 instance grind it takes to get that much JP (IF you average 60 points per heroic).

Currently bugged on Live. The tool-tip on the weapon stops changing after level 80 but it most certainly does keep scaling as you go from 81 - 85.

Stats at 85 seems to resemble ilvl 333 blue caster weapons.

Estimated stats:
(~217 damage per second) (scales better than normal)
+28 Stamina (doesn't scale)
+42 Intellect (doesn't scale)

No shaman with a brain would use a staff over a weapon/shield.

I disagree. There are no heirlooms shields so Dignified Headmaster's Charge is a good choice even though it's a staff.

Dignified Headmaster's Charge: A lot of people like to go 1h/shield with a shaman, but as of now there is no shield from heirlooms, and you’re not going find a weapon with stats like this throughout your entire leveling career, even on the other heirloom items.

Healing Power used to be a different enchant from Spell Power. It is a relic from the days when spellpower was actually two different things: +spell healing (to be used only by healers) and +spell damage (to be used only by caster DPS). From the 3.0.2 patch notes:

Spellpower:

All items and effects which grant bonuses to spell damage and spell healing are being consolidated into a single stat, Spellpower. This stat will appear with the same values found on items which grant “increased spell damage and healing” such as on typical Mage and Warlock itemization. (For classes which do not heal, they should see no change in the character sheet other than new tooltip wording.)

Heirlooms are no longer purchased with badges. Badges/emblems were converted to Cataclysm's points system in 4.0.1. So, now the list looks like this.

Chest, Shoulder, Weapons -- Levels 1 to 80 -- Justice Points, Champion Seals, Darkmoon Prize Ticket, Honor Points*
*applies only to PvP weapons

Helm, Cloak -- Levels 1 through 85 -- Gold pieces but requires guild level(s) to unlock and guild reputation (Honored) to "see" the item(s) in the vendor's list.

Since there are low level shield enchants available, you should always try to use a shield. So, I've underlined shields on the list.

you can put 30 spell power on the mace and any pre-BC enchant on it my priest is lvl 55 and it gives 45 spell power and 2 mana per 5 secs or whatever. but all in all its a good weapon to have so u wont have to change it or find more.

What a piece of crap! Says 342 spellpower at lvl 80. Figured at lvl 47 it might have at least 30ish to 40ish spellpower... WRONG. Has a big 7 spellpower at lvl 47 1 mana per 5 and 9 int. considering I can't put a decent enchant on it Im better of with my damn lvl 35 green which has 8 spellpower on it! What a waste of 50 badges! By the time this hammer apparently gives any stats that are worth a damn you will have better.
