Glad I'm a JC...
Materials needed for a craft are still too high vs their power benefit vs their AH value. Not a chance I'll be crafting this expansion, again, but I'll definitely be selling all my mats.
Sorta unrelated, but the +20 skill on the engineering helms got me thinking. In the case of the engineering helms, because you can create them at skill level 1, there is a temporary advantage while you're leveling the profession. Assuming they're not capped behind a quest chain that forces you to be less than 20 skill away from max'd anyway....But in the case of all the racials that give +X to a profession, they're actually a disadvantage under the BfA crafting system. You still start at skill 1. You need to get higher than any other race in order to cap. And now that you've gotta do expensive high end epics for each expansion, rather than being able to use the cheap greens from the expansion following, so it's a pretty pricey process to cap out any given expac's profession skill. Some of their profession design seems a bit odd this expac.
Is that really it for chanters? Faster hearth cast speed? That's weak as hell.
Seeing the Azerite Detector equipment made my engineer main extremely happy, but I just noticed that 1) the recipe drops from a world boss, and 2) it requires a whopping FIVE hydrocores! Even the lowest-rank goggle recipes only require 3 hydrocores, and that's for a piece of ilvl 340 gear! It also looks like the other professions' crafted champion equipment only require one hydrocore each, and since Azerite is far more valuable than ore, herbs, etc. I guess it's fair that this recipe should be significantly more expensive too. I just checked out Wowhead's guide to BfA missions and followers to see how many of these we'd need to make to give one to each of our followers, and it actually made me feel a lot better; we only get 5 followers total (via the War Campaign, which you can't complete until 120 anyway) and there's no other follower equipment other than what we can craft via professions. Each follower also has only one equipment slot, which is unlocked when they're upgraded to Rare. So, engineers only need 25 hydrocores total to equip all of their followers, and since we don't even recruit them until 120 and their equipment slots don't unlock until they've been upgraded to Rare, that means we can't equip them with the Azerite Detector any earlier than people with different professions even if we have the recipe and the materials. Realistically, that will probably give us enough time to stockpile enough hydrocores to equip most if not all of our followers as soon as we're able.Still, since this is a potentially hard-to-obtain and very expensive recipe for such a "minor" item, I really hope that means that it actually produces a significant amount of Azerite. And to everyone who's upset about hydrocores being Mythic-only -- don't worry about it. There are tons of other people like you who don't want to do Mythics, but will have to do them anyway to get hydrocores. Based on my experience doing Balance of Power on several characters, it's going to be very easy to find other people who are there for the same reason you are. Don't be afraid to start your own "chill hydrocore run" groups either; if you build it, they will come.
Not looking forward to having sacrifice enchant mats for expulsom. Am looking forward to hearth enchants.
The BS perk item - Khaz'gorian Smithing Hammer - isn't listed under BfA unlearned recipes, unlike all other items. I can only guess that it didn't make it out of beta.
I doubt Azerite Detector is going to provide any significant difference, unless there is some other way for non-engineers to obtain similar effect. Still, bonus result from missions, it's bound to be insignificant in greater scope of things.I can't see any other champion equipment aside from those crafted by professions, I doubt that there really isn't anything, but since I can't see any other equipment reducing mission duration, I have to say that BS perks in this regards seem best, and then Khaz'gorian Smithing Hammer, if it makes it into release, pretty much rokcets Blacksmithing to the top.
Wow, the follower equipment crafting mats are rather steep. Plus it requires a BoP dungeon drop item? The dungeon haters are going to have conniptions
Lets say i drop Engineering (all schematics learned) and Tailoring (all recipes learned) when BfA hits for Herbalism and Inscription, is there a item in BfA that lets me learn all my previous learned schematics/recipes (even mob dropped ones?)
Champion Missions? Yay! Can't wait to get to 120!
god, such a "fresh air" from lich king addon./facepalm
Balance in all things.Lol blizzard can you make proffesions close in some manner.
perculia, you make my dream come true! Thanks too much!
