Bill Westenhoffer the CFC sup and I calle fit the “small world” effect. In a single shot, you can sometimes see three different environments. Desert, snow capped peaks, lush Forrest. Very effective, but intentionally not “realistic” as in like Earth.— Duncan Jones (@ManMadeMoon) July 20, 2018

Seeing this was probably about the most disappointed I've ever been in a movie. My brother and I have been big Warcraft fans since the release of Warcraft: Orcs vs Humans. We're massive fans of the franchise, play the games, read the books, etc. Even went and saw the movie together. Both kind of regretted spending money on it. Almost everything about this movie was bad. The casting, the dialogue, the plot changes, the mixing of live actors with cgi, all bad. The orcs (and Dwarves) looked amazing but did not hold up as realistic when put into the same scene with humans. Every elf looked like they had LED hi-beams in their eyes. Paula Patton looked like she was about to spit her tusks out every time she delivered a line. And her cgi colored skin looked terrible and made her stand out in a real bad way. The lighting on the sets was terrible, no even remotely realistic lighting effects, everything perfectly lit like they were at a photo shoot for a fashion magazine. The changes to the lore were stupid and there was no discernible reason as to why the changes needed to be made as they had little to no real impact on changing the story. They also tried to cram far too much into one film and it caused them to have to make so many jumps that I really pity anyone who doesn't know the lore and is trying to follow the plot. So many gaps and holes, so much not explained fully or even touched on at all. The whole film was a MESS.And I know Duncan Jones said that he was taking demands from Blizzard and the movie studio and all these different hands were trying to stir the pot and that's what turned the film into a disaster, but after watching his following film MUTE, I place 99% of the blame for Warcraft on Jones because MUTE had all of the same issues that WARCRAFT had. MOON was an excellent film, loved it, Jones did great work on MOON. But it was a small set with a small cast and a small plot. I think with WARCRAFT and MUTE, Jones has proven he is just not a big film director.
I thought it was a pretty good attempt at not only a video game movie, but a Warcraft movie. My wife who cares nothing for WoW but truly enjoys the LoTR movies (yeah, I don't get it) thought it was hard to follow but enjoyed the fantasy world of it. Still won't play wow though, darnit.
Someday I hope we can see a longer version, with more of what got cut out restored to it. I feel like it could have been better if Legendary hadn’t slashed it down to two hours (and maybe not promoted it in such a profoundly stupid way). I get that they were trying to reach the “broad audience,” but ironically by cutting it short they removed a lot of the explication that would have helped it make more sense to a wider audience. Oh well.
I loved it because I got to sit in the theater for two hours with friends immersing myself in a film that was all about a mythical world that's been such a big part of my life.Ironically, picking apart all the elements of the film that departed from the books and/or game was actually fun for me! It was just more immersion in the lore.Garona is a much more intriguing character in the lore than she was in the movie. The sets were mostly beautiful and the music was good, too.A "Director's Cut" would be fantastic!
when NA dumbsters call a movie a flop that made 480 million $ in the first month in EU and China and broke the billions mark after 3 months ... just because the sales on their home turf weren't great
there will be no "other one" they had sold all the props xD and Duncan Jones does not plan on writing any further scrips for the Warcraft franchise, he will be making an old classic fantasy adventure next!
I didnt have any issues with the movie. Thought it was an okay representation of the universe.
The movie was good, I dont care what anyone says I saw it with people who knew Nothing about warcraft, and they loved it, would see more and go watch it again looking forward to the long directors cut, with all the scenes they had to remove
Loved this movie so much. I think it Duncan, the crew, and the actors did amazing. I don't care what the haters say. I watch it all the time. So glad that they finally were able to get that movie made. I don't think we'll see another WoW movie, but if they did make one that would be so awesome. I'd love to see Wrath of the Lich King made into a movie :)
We deserve to see the full movie, without any scene cutting or at least a Director's cut, where Duncan can decide. Thats what we deserve, not the Legendary studio's version.Honestly I loved the movie to death, I went to see it with my dad, who knows minimal about the Warcraft universe and he loved it. We both had the same opinion about one flaw.It was too short for how much information they threw at us. I understood everything but again it was too fast paced from scene to scene.
I loved the movie and never get sick of watching it. A directors cut would be great. Ive played wow since start 2006.
Had the movie been much longer and followed the lore correctly, it would've been really good. (Dalaran in the sky back when it was on the ground in Hillsbrad, out of many things)My favorite Warcraft "movie" is still the machinima War of the ancients - The well of eternity.
I think they should make their movies like the DC Animated Universe (Flashpoint Paradox, Gotham By Gaslight, etc.) where it's both animated but still aimed at a mature audience.
I'd rather have had the troll invasion than the weird garona x lothar thinghere's to hoping we can get a netflix series or something! I'd watch the hell outta that! :D
