ok, rite off the bat, got a couple of questions regarding the contest. My main language is spanish, as it is, it's quite hard to compose something in english, let alone check how many syllables it has (I've made 1 submision already :P and had to check with a couple of friends to make sure it has 17)am I allowed to post a Haiko in Spanish, but adding the correct translation in english? I did made a few good ones in my language, that when translated to english sadly don't have the correct ammount of syllables.second question, what could prevent users from making 50 diferent acounts and vote on their own stuff?Third question, are the Haikos published annonimus? I ask because as others have stated, this could become a simple popularity contest, with people voting more on the users than on the haikos themselves, keeping the names off would allow people to actually vote on the content.Fourth question, are users allowed to vote up? down? both? I hope only up, that way there would be no spitefull downvoting for the ones that don't win or feel jealosy or whatever.Fifth question, how many times per day can a user vote?:P that's all, this is an.............. intresting idea, I'll be grinding my brain cooking up as many haikos as posible, cuz I WANT TO GET IN! >-<Edit: aditional question, let's supose I submit a Haiko, and this monday it doesn't get published, does this means it's been discarded and I have to come up with another one? I dunno, it seems rather restrictive to have to write 1 haiko every single day if the one I submitted wasn't posted.it would be diferent if said Haiko gets posted, and it isn't one of the top 5 voted, then it can be discarded and I'd have to submit a new one, but if my Haiko was simply never chosen to be in the forums (the contest page said "only the best ones") I'd have to make a new one (or more than 1) each day?
@rankkorr: "Users may submit as many entries as they like, but can (obviously) only win once. One entry will get you into every drawing thereafter."In light of the haiku blog post from March '09 being necro'd, are those haiku going to be invalid entries? It doesn't affect me since all my entries are Cataclysm related. :P
I just realized something:Tankspot also made a contest identical to this one -.-not that I hate poetry, but it should be a rule (on both sites) that you cannot post Haikos from the other.I mean, what could stop someone from taking 30 Haikos from the contest on Tankspot and posting them here? and viceversa, what could stop someone from taking a Haiko from here and posting in on Tankspot?Edit:
If the forums rate my haikus, I will lose. :<. Some of my haikus involve cooking gnomes
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
I've submitted 3 different times! I hope i can win! i threw in some good ones!i'm sure the ones i've put in you'd like!
Ugh, dont let the community vote for the Haikos, I submitted quite alot about DKs not being able to tank (even though I play a dk tank very well :P), and punting gnomes.Let the flame, BEGIN.
It has been nearly two decades since I last came up with a haiku.
geeeehh...thanks! i dont even know wtf a haiko is...well, no beta for me.
I didn't think I would actually enter this one but all of a sudden the creative juices are flowing. I don't think I've ever written a haiku that wasn't for school.
I'm confused. Is haiku a dress or what?
Just entered, hopefully i'll win! :D
Remember: A haiku is 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables—although we also will accept 3 - 5 - 3 haiku in a pinch.what is a syllable?
I dont wanna try the Beta, i am looking forward to the expansion, but until we are there i would like to enjoy wotlk. so no haiku, no beta key, im gonna take this opportunity to present a limerick instead.darn paladin, you took my abilities, you stole my jobyou can perform well, even with the skill of a slobwhirlwind, shield slam, what else can you steal?you get better versions of them all, and you can heal!left me without choice, just reroll, complain and sob
