My favorite encounter would have to be the last boss in Tempest Keep. You got to use the legendary weapons for 1 phase of the fight and you had to kill them in the phase before it. it was just awesome to be able to have legendary weapons/shields to mess around with during a boss encounter.
The Chess event in Kharazan. I really wish they would do more encounters like this with unusual mechanics.
My favorite encounter is Captain Cookie. It isn't a fight with alot of lore behind it but it's still pretty fun. The first time I actually saw him I couldn't stop laughing.
Ingvar the Plunderer is my favorite encounter mainly due to the fact it was a lot of fun the first time I faced him. That first time our healer had died so the tank actually kited Ingvar back to the entrance of the dungeon where we would then down him. It was only a level 70 five man but still it is the memory of a dungeon that I know I will not be forgetting.
my favorite encounter of all time was the big bad wolf in karazhan... there was nothing funnier than watching your healer ask "how did i just die?' after he was going tunnel vision on healing the raid and got smacked by that big wolf paw.
My favourite encounter is Lady Vashj in SSC.The fight has such a variety of aspects with people kiting adds, killing adds, tainted core-macros and in the end poison pretty much everywhere. It required a lot of cooperation between the raiders. Very few encounters can get as messy as a failed Vashj encounter, making it one of the greatest challenges in game so far and the first kill the sweetest victory.
My favorite ecounter so far is Flame Leviathan in Ulduar. It's a very fun and easy fight and I enjoyed defeating him a lot.
In my opinion it is definately Mimiron. When I arrived there with my raid first time, we were satisfied by the beautiness of the room and also the red button there made me laugh every time. And firefighter is in my memory still cause we wiped there so much and finally got it down. :)
Yogg-Saron even though the fight was simple it wasn't just something you could sleep through like a lot of bosses have been in the past i remember taking him down for the first time and then never doing the fight again cause the guild lost to many raiders.
While I can try to wow and amaze people with an obscure encounter, I've been entertained to no end with my guild's first Festergut 10m kill. These kinds of kills make raiding worthwhile. Not the easy/professional kills of the "pro" boredom, but the near misses.http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/206866_106624282757303_100002291965789_67514_8267718_n.jpg
