Basic to-go heal for a Mistwalker Monk.

Intended as the cheap, efficient heal and your main source of Chi as a healer.

Is currently hilariously broken in the beta, where a naked lvl15 Monk can put out upwards of 250Hps using nothing but this spell.

Important thing to note about this spell: while channeling soothing mists, and Enveloping Mist are instant cast and do not interrupt your channeling.

Another thing to note, is that while you've got your Jade Serpent Statue down, this spell is effectively doubled; one channel on your target, another smart, independently targeted heal from your Statue.

Chi proc rate in patch 5.2 and later is as follows.

the chi proc chance is 15% plus 15% for each tick that it doesn't proc. The chance to generate chi increases with each tick that doesn't proc and resets when it does.

As a result of the new proc rate in 5.2 (15% + 15% per tick that fails to proc), the average chance to proc on each tick (since the last proc or the start of the cast) is as follows:

Tick 1: 15.00%
Tick 2: 25.50%
Tick 3: 26.78%
Tick 4: 19.64%
Tick 5: 9.82%
Tick 6: 2.95%
Tick 7: 0.33%

You're guaranteed to get a tick at least every 7 ticks (since the 7th tick is at a 105% proc chance). On average, you'll get a proc every 2.94 ticks, which equates to an average of 2.72 Chi per full Soothing Mist channel.

Can be copied by Death Knights with Dark Simulacrum. Does not use Monk Healing animations...

I can confirm, that if you spam your Soothing Mist ability, you will generate Chi faster, compared to letting it channel.

Some things to note in case anyone is still confused about how this skill works, like I was;

1. Surging Mist and Enveloping Mist can only be cast on the target of Soothing Mist while channeling.
2. Soothing Mist does NOT generate Chi at random anymore, in fact it does not generate chi at all
3. Surging and Enveloping are the only two skills that can be cast w/o interrupting the Soothing channel time.

Update for Legion:
This is a passive, which is automatically cast after casting Effuse, Enveloping Mist, Vivify, or Life Cocoon. It heals for 64% Spellpower every 0.5 sec for 5 minutes. Any action breaks this. (Except the Mist Wrap talent, which allows you to move whilst channeling).

Advantages I've found whilst using this (and with the Mist Wrap talent):
Silence does not stop/break it.
Does not need Line of Sight (I moved behind a pillar, and the Soothing Mist continued to heal the target, clipping through the pillar and everything, I remained there for a few seconds).

I might just cry, the latest Alpha BfA build brought Soothing Mist in it's MoP/WoD version back and I've spent hours upon hours doing BGs in Legion (coming from someone not really doing a lot of PvP), so that I can still use it (as it is a Honor talent in Legion) and god damn it is fun to use that talent and run around with Soothing Mist, burst healing people.

Here's to hoping they won't remove it until BfA releases...
