This gnome can be found on the second level of Booty Bays docks. Just up the ramp next to the hanging shark. He will be on the first house after the small bridge.

from the boat: follow the pier. see how it splits up or down? go up the ramp...stop. see the little guy sleeping? turn around and go up the other ramp. stop. see the bridge on your right? almost there! keep going straight, first door on your right.

The flavor text on this NPC suggests that despite his affiliation to the art of Gnomish Engineering, he seems to despise anyone who may be from Gnomeragan. I wish there was more story to this.

Oglethorpe makes a point of telling players who speak to him that if they represent Gnomeregan, he has nothing to say to them and that they should leave. The reason for this hostility is revealed to Horde players who visit him to learn Gnome Engineering. According to Oglethorpe, he was ostracized by the rulers of Gnomeregan because they considered him an "intellectual threat." Indignant, he left Gnomeregan for good, which likely led to his residence in Booty Bay. Oglethorpe tells the player that because of the way the ruling faction of Gnomeregan treated him, it lost one of the greatest gnome engineers alive.

The show wasn't out when the game launched, but it's kinda funny that someone named after an Aqua Teen character also gives players a Robot Chicken, which is a Cartoon Network show as well.

Quests cannot be turned in to this NPC if you are hated with Booty Bay. So, if you are trying to restore your Booty Bay reputation by doing the Mechanical Chicken Escort quest, you will not be able to turn it in (while Hated).

Is there a way to find out if you've completed all the robot chicken quests? I certainly did one, probably two, and maybe all three, but that was years ago, and now that pets are on tabs, I want my robot chicken pet. Do his comments to players change if you've turned specific quests? This is very frustrating.

So I found out that if u are hated with booty bay you cant talk to this guy, which is bad for me because i became a gnomish engineer so i could farm the Lil' Smokey recipe off of him a few days prior to actually becoming hated with them. Hopefully theres a way to get my reputation up after im done getting rep up with the bloodsails XD

When I found out that Oglethorp was in BB, I died a little inside :(. You see, I'm about 1/8 of the way to Hostile. That's around 5-10k rep I'm at now (I don't know the exact number; I'm writing this as maintanence is up). I spent around 50-70g getting Ratchet from 21k/36k Hated to 0/3000 Neutral. And this one is Silk cloth, which costs quite a bit more. :*( And the Gnomish engineering is always the coolest too...Goblins don't teach jack that's ny good. WTB Rocket boots & X ray specs :x

I find Oglethorphe's alarm clock ingenious. In his hut, he has a device over his bed that periodically draws out a hammer out from the wall in order to whack at him while he's lying down. One of the greatest gnome engineers alive indeed!

After unlearning Goblin Engineering, I got the mats to complete his quest by looking it up ahead of time.

He still will not let me learn Gnomish Engineering, directing me back to Tanaris to unlearn Goblin Engineering, which I've already unlearned.

And, to top it off, if you are hated with the goblins from doing the bloodsail grind, he will not talk to you. Awesome for the engineers that wanted to learn goblin engineering.

This guy took me forever to find for some reason...

From the entrance:

Take an immediate left after you go down the stairs from the entrance (you'll be running along a cliff side).
Keep following the path, passing Booty Bay Blacksmith.
You'll see Dizzy One-Eye, keep following the path. Take the 2nd door on the left of the house Dizzy is standing next to (the house right before the bridge, there is a barrel next to it).

He's an engineering trainer. Set your tracking for profession trainers and go toward the red bridge on the second level, the one you cross to get to the flight master. He's in the building to the left of the red bridge.

Oglethorpe Obnoticus is one of the hardest NPCs to find in WoW. I spent at least twenty minutes running up and down ramps in Booty Bay while attempting to turn in Rescue OOX-17/TN! . Frustrated, I finally turned to Wowhead for advice. Unfortunately, none of the comments were particularly helpful. In fact, the assortment of NPCs, landmarks, and comments about "ramps" made it even more confusing!

My directions (from the Booty Bay flight path):

1) Jump down to the next level (you should be in front of "Southern Skies Platform") and face the direction of the waterfall (you should see if you look up and toward the cliffs).

2) Go past "All Things Flora" and down the ramp.

3) Keep going straight, past "Tan-Your-Hide Leatherworks," then turn left at "Deep South Tannery."

4) Go across the bridge, then turn right. Oglethorpe will be in the first building on your right.

As it is curently not listed: He also teaches http://www.wowhead.com/item=40727 at gnomish engineering 500, which is orange at 500 and gives 5 engineering levels if you create it at level 500.

As stated in the comments of http://www.wowhead.com/item=40727 this item is currently bugged.

After turning in one of the "Rescue OOX" quests to him, his greeting text for you changes. He recognizes you and is friendlier towards you.

It was a pain to find this guy..how to get there (screenshot further down) :

From the boat - Just follow the path that doesnt go up (run past that mall-ish building), run up the bamboo ramp and stop at the upside down boat where Fin sleeps. Turn around and run up the next ramp, you'll have a bridge on your right side (dont run across) and the entrance to the house is right after that bridge on your right side.

From the Inn - (If you've arrived with a flight, you can simply jump down so you're standing underneath the dead shark that's hanging, close to the upside down boat). Run to the shark's mouth, stand between the shark and the upside down boat with Fin sleeping (meaning, you now have the shark behind you and the upside down boat in front of you). Run up the ramp, you'll have a bridge on your right side (dont run across) and the entrance to the house is right after that bridge on your right side.

Some fun information is that he is the inventor of the blueprints for the Crowd Pummeler 9-60 within Gnomeregan, which was built after Sicco Thermaplugg stole the design. Because of this, Oglethorpe was banished from Gnomeregan. This is why he is in Booty Bay, if anyone was wondering ~:).

After earning the Heirloom Hoarder achievement, it is this fellow, Oglethorpe Obnoticus, who sent me a letter thanking me, along with the Clinking Present which contains Chauffeured Chopper keys.

If you don't have TomTom, here are the directions from the entrance to Booty Bay (the shark's mouth):

Go down the stairs toward the dock, like you're going to use the ship to Kalimdor. Make a U-turn and travel up to the second level, and head back toward the shark's mouth. You should see a few Booty Bay Bruisers and a few goblins working on a partial rooftop between you and the entrance to Booty Bay.

Trying to get Vengeful Chicken? You MUST BE NEUTRAL+ to interact with Oglethorpe Obnoticus. You will not be able to turn Cutting Edge Poultry Science in unless you have at least Neutral rep with the Booty Bay faction.

Needing 477 to move from unfriendly to neutral, I killed members of Bloodsail Buccaneers that populate the Wild Shore area surrounding the town of Booty Bay - they give 5 rep each - and, voila!, Oglethorpe Obnoticus was interactive!

Tip: If need to farm a lot of rep to get back to neutral, I recommend going to Lost Rigger Cove in Tanaris and killing pirates by the bushel. (Tomtom coords: /way 73 46 )
